Captain John is a fantastic captain that helped me catch 15 butterfly peacocks, 2 Speckled peacocks, 2 Clownknifes 2 Florida Gar, and 2 Largemouth bass. The biggest fish that I caught was an 11 pound Florida Gar, Clownknife, and a 6 pound Peacock bass. We also had a great time fishing for Bullseye snakehead, Sunshine bass, and Mayan Chiclids. I highly recommend the 8 hour Lake Ida trip if you want to have a great day of fishing while catching floridas unique freshwater species.

Despite not ideal conditions captain John got us on them! One of my top 3 charter experiences… extremely knowledgeable and patient in terms of passing that knowledge on. Despite the fact that we probably missed more fish then we caught (our fault not johns lol) he managed to guide us to some true brutes! I wish we could have got after some snakehead but due to the unlucky timing of the trip both the wind and fact they were spawning made the bite really tough. Despite this fact John got us on some awesome fishing with some true brutes.
10/10 would recommend.

We told Captain John what we wanted- (just to catch fish, and ideally a variety) and got exactly what we wanted, even with stormy weather looming before and after.
We caught so many monster peacock bass and Mayan cichlid that we lost count and caught 2 elusive clown knife fish as well as largemouth bass, huge crappie and a big bluegill.
Thanks Captain John for a wonderful experience. He was great with everyone and really looks out for all. He communicated really well with us so we knew what to expect. 100% recommend!
