  Outstanding family fishing trip in Ucluelet!

  Afternoon half day trip on August 29, 2026 • 4 adults • 2 children

  Captain Dave was outstanding. I had my 3 kids (ages 15, 12, and 8) and we all had a fantastic time. Communication with Captain Dave before the trip was super easy. He gave us clear directions right to his boat. He was on time and expecting us with a smile. He was funny, patient, and super knowledgeable. He made the experience super fun and accessible for the kids. His boat is roomy, fast, and super well equipped. All his equipment was top notch and always ready to go. The water was a bit choppy at the beginning so after catching a couple salmon in the more exposed water near the lighthouse, my little guy started feeling a bit queasy. Dave proposed that would could move on to a more sheltered area where the water would be much calmer but where we’d still have a chance to catch fish. And catch fish we did. Over and over and over again! Captain Dave was great at managing the process. When the bite was not quite a forceful, he’d hand rod to the younger kids so they could reel in the smaller to midsize fish. When the line got hammered hard, he’d hand the line to me or my oldest son. We all caught several fish… king salmon, koho salmon, and even a few mackerel. My oldest son reeled a monster 18 lb chinook salmon. The scenery was spectacular. Captain Dave was awesome about addressing the kids’ curiosity about the fish, the equipment, the local wildlife, and everything in between. We would do this trip again in a heart beat. Thank you Captain Dave! Highly, highly recommend!

  Amazing Trip

  Full day Trip on July 17, 2026 • 4 adults

  If you’re looking for an incredible fishing experience in Ucluelet, I can’t recommend Bonzai Sea Adventures and Captain Dave Fraser enough. Two friends and I booked an 8-hour charter for two consecutive days, and it exceeded every expectation we had. Captain Dave put us on fish both days. On the first day, we limited out on Spring Chinook salmon and spot prawns. On the second day, we limited out again on Spring Chinook, halibut, and lingcod, and even had time to catch some rockfish. By the end of the trip, the three of us were heading home with around 150 pounds of incredible fresh fish. What really made the trip stand out was Captain Dave himself. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, knows exactly where to find fish, and works hard to make sure everyone has a successful day on the water. He’s also friendly, patient, and genuinely enjoys what he does, which made the entire experience even better. This wasn’t just a successful fishing trip,it was an amazing adventure from start to finish. We had an absolute blast and have already decided this is going to become an annual trip for us. If you’re considering booking a fishing charter in Ucluelet, do yourself a favor and book with Bonzai Sea Adventures.   Amazing expetience overall!

  If you’re looking for an unforgettable salmon fishing charter, I can’t recommend Bonzai Charters enough. We booked a 4-hour trip with Captain David, and it turned into one of the best fishing experiences I’ve had in over 20 years of fishing. We landed three large Chinook (spring) salmon, and at times it seemed like we had fish on back-to-back. Captain David was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and worked tirelessly to make sure we had an amazing day on the water. Partway through the trip, my daughter started feeling a bit seasick. Rather than cutting the experience short, Captain David adjusted our plan and worked hard to find fish in the calmer inside waters—an area where the fishing wasn’t expected to be nearly as productive. Somehow, he still managed to put us right on the fish and made the trip enjoyable for everyone. His professionalism, experience, and dedication to his guests really stood out. He genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we had a first-rate experience from start to finish. This may honestly be one the best fishing charter expeincrs I’ve been on in the last 20 years. We’ll definitely be booking with Bonzai Charters again the next time we’re in the area. Five stars all the way!

Раніше їздив рибічити чавуну у Ріо Пуєло в Чилі і було з чим порівняти.З самого початку він був дуже уважний, професійний і щиро піклувався про те, щоб ми були задоволені та отримали гарні враження від поїздки. Було видно, що він активно шукав найкращі місця і робив усе можливе, щоб ми зловили рибу. Завдяки йому я вперше в житті зловив чавичу і свого першого палтуса. Для мене це був незабутній день. Умови в океані були непрості, але капітан Девід завжди діяв впевнено і безпечно. Він справжній професіонал і дуже добра людина. Дуже сподіваюся повернутися наступного року. ******************** Tuvimos una experiencia increíble de pesca con el Capitán David. Previamente pescaba Chinook en Rio Puelo en Chile y puedo comparar mi experiencia .Desde el principio fue muy atento, profesional y siempre preocupado de que estuviéramos contentos y disfrutando el viaje. Se notaba que buscaba activamente los mejores lugares y que hacía todo lo posible para que pudiéramos pescar. Gracias a él pude cumplir un sueño: pescar mi primer salmón Chinook y también mi primer halibut. Fue un día inolvidable para mí. Las condiciones del mar no eran fáciles, pero el Capitán David siempre nos hizo sentir seguros y bien guiados. Es un gran profesional y una muy buena persona. Espero sinceramente poder volver el próximo año.

  Thank you so much Pablo and Patricia! We had some tough weather and some big waves to start but I think we timed it perfect. As soon as we got offshore the wind stopped and the swell came down. Amazing people make the best days fishing! Thanks again and truely hope to see you all again.

  Fantastic Trip would 100% do this again!

  Half Day Trip March to May on April 21, 2026 • 2 adults

  Just got back from an absolutely incredible fishing trip with David - one for the books. The action was nonstop, and the variety made it even better. Landed some beautiful salmon, pulled up hard-fighting rockfish, and even hooked into a few lingcod that really put up a battle. The conditions were perfect, the scenery was unreal, and every cast felt like it had potential. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of reeling in a big catch with the open water all around you. David had great humour with me when I caught the ocean bottom and was so helpful! Already counting down the days until the next trip. 🎣
