It disappoints me in your perception that you would not recommend my business.
I would like to share my perceptive as well for readers of this review.
There are two groups of people who visit our state of alaska that pursue fishing on the world famous kenai river .
1.) The meat hunters- these are individuals who have one interest in mind and that is to get as many fish from our state to take to the lower 48. They’re not there to enjoy our beautiful state and rarely take the time to make memories outside of fishing within the state and their focus time is on filling fish boxes to ship home. Breaking the rules and taking multiple quotas a day not just out of need but want.
2. The once in a lifetime dreamers- these are the individuals who come to alaska to make memories or check the box off their bucket list. They are not booking fishing trips for the sole purpose of fishing but to also enjoy the adventure. Often times they release their fish and or give it to someone less fortunate. Their not fixated on time spent on the river and always appreciative of the chance it gave them.                         

I can normally tell after 23 years in this business what type of individuals are coming down the boat ramp. You came to the river already with a negative persona and started complaining about the time focusing on what you thought was advertised on fish booker. Even though its clearly defined, you insisted on additional time that I went out of my way to provide. You were upset about not catching fish and once again I offered to take you out again as thats just the kind of man I am. Probably the only guide on the river who would be that generous under the situation.

I do my best to help a customer catch fish its not like the lower 48 it takes years to master the art as our salmon don’t pursue a lure. It takes patience and active listening.

Our fishing is also impacted by commercial trollers and fish netting at the mouth of the river and many of our fish annually don’t even get a chance to spawn so resources are being depleted by exceeding limits, selling to industries and weather conditions. The guides often get blamed due to no fish when we take care of our river and value the resource it gives all of us but the commercial industries deplete supplies.

The guide service and the guide are often blamed when we have no control of the guests actions and attitudes and then we end up with negative views on our business that we strive so hard to build and maintain. Unfortunately we are unable to rate our clients through fish booker such as airbb. I am hoping fish booker will implement this soon as any day on the river should be a good day!
You had an opportunity to walk away satisfied with a different lens of what Alaska truly has to offer.
