We had an awesome trip with Captain Tim! We left right on time and started the day fishing for yellow perch. The bite was a little slow at first, but it picked up and we caught plenty of fish and had a great time. We originally booked a walleye charter, but Captain Tim was upfront with us that the walleye bite hadn’t been great lately, so we decided to spend the last 2–2.5 hours trolling for them. We ended up landing 4 walleye, with 3 keepers, and had an absolute blast! Our 3- and 7-year-old had a great time catching fish and even loved helping everyone bait their hooks with minnows. Captain Tim was great with the kids and made the whole trip enjoyable for our family. We’ll definitely be booking with him again — next up is an April walleye trip!
So, overall my family had a good time and we had fun catching fish even though they weren't biting a whole lot, but, some things need communicated a lot better and upfront before i could say i would come back. Our captain was Jim and he was a really nice guy but we didn't know that Jim smoked and we were never asked if that was going to be an issue before our trip, considering we obviously were all so close together in a boat and no one should have to be around that for 4 hours. Secondly, the details for our trip said we could either pay cash OR Paypal when our trip was complete, so we were going to use Paypal (who carries $500 cash on them these days?) but were informed by Jim he only takes cash. That would have been nice to know before our trip so we didn't have to flag down an ATM and then come back to pay him. Directions to the pier were foggy too, having multiple captains with boats at different places, had we not got a call the day before as to the location of Jims boat we would have been lost, especially not being a local and coming from a different state. So please clear up some things for folks before their trip.
We had a really great time! Captain Randy was really knowledgeable of the lake and methods to catch fish. Doug was very helpful as deckhand. They both taught us how to ensure a catch when we got a bite.
Capt Jim got us on perch out near b-can this morning, despite an East wind. He taught us all perch catching techniques and even contributed to our overall totals. we throughly enjoyed our experience and Capt Jim’s hospitality and expertise.
I would highly recommend this charter to anyone. Even though the water was extremely rough during our trip the captain kept everyone safe and made sure we had a good time and caught plenty of fish. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced captain to lead your group on a successful fishing trip you can't go wrong with captain Tyler.
