Fish Taxi Sportfishing has a goal of you catching lots of fish and have fun doing it! Join captain Jason Montgomery and his experienced crew. They run fishing trips out of Oceanside and they can take you out on the water any time of year. Join regardless of your skill level, as any trip can be adjusted to fit your needs!
You'll be fishing from a 34' flybridge that can comfortably welcome up to 6 anglers. She's powered by twin 380 HP Cummins engines and will get you wherever you need to be in no time. The top notch navigational electronics will help you locate schools of fish and then the crew will get you ready with professional fishing equipment.
Your technique and approach will be different depending on the fish you want to catch. You can switch between trolling, spinning, bottom fishing, or deep sea fishing. Closer to the shore, you'll have high chances of catching Halibut, Calico Bass, Rockfish, and small Sharks. Reaching offshore spots brings something new to the plate, such as Mahi Mahi, Lingcod, Tuna, and Barracuda.
Besides Shimano and Pen gear, the captain will also prepare live bait before your trip starts. There will also be some snacks and drinks but feel free to bring your own. The crew will also clean your catch and, although not mandatory, tips are appreciated for the service.

Couldn’t ask for a better short trip! We caught a Mako shortly after leaving the harbor. Once we arrived at the reef to do some bottom fishing, everyone caught a variety of fish, Sheep’s head , sand bass, sculpin, and others. The captain and crew were great! Very friendly helpful and good with the kids. We plan on doing this trip and possibly a longer one every year from now on. 👍
Great time on Fish Taxi with Capt. Jason and Mate Joseph. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with a passion for fishing. Boat was comfortable and spacious. We caught 6 different species (rock bass, calico bass, sculpin, mackerel, sheepshead, and barracuda) and enough keepers of the former 3 species to make a large batch of ceviche for a lunch later that afternoon. This 3 hr trip is perfect for beginners and families looking to get out on the water without having to commit an entire day. A short beautiful boat ride from the marina to fishing grounds meant little down time and mostly fishing during those 3 hours. Through no fault of the Captain, I had mixed up the departure time and showed up 45 min late to the boat. But even with an afternoon charter planned, the Captain cut his own midday break time short and still honored the full 3hrs which was greatly appreciated. Please note that the departure time may possibly vary to what is posted on this site due to fishing conditions. The Captain knew there was an early bite and notified me immediately when I booked that we would be leaving earlier than posted. It was my fault for not reading the text entirely. Once again, the Captain was putting full effort in providing the highest possible chances for success, which we found. I will definitely be taking the family on this trip next time we are in Oceanside, and you should too.
Fish Taxi and captain Collin were super easy and friendly to work with. The boat is very comfortable for 6 + the crew. all the equipment was there and ready, and the crew were super helpful maximizing our experience on the boat. I'd recommend bringing your own snacks

Took the family out to celebrate my grandsons birthday. The trip didn't disappoint! The captain and crew were professional and pleasant. We caught fish the entire trip. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the Oceanside area! It was easy booking, and on time. A first-rate trip!

The captain and Dan did a great job supporting and interacting with us. They made sure to go out of their way to learn our names, see what our goals were in catching fish and did everything they could to make sure we had a great time. Would highly recommend
