We booked a 6 hour trip. We started out slow on the shrimp the first try and switched to fishing. We got on the Spanish mackerel and after catching around 30 they switched back to trying to get some shrimp. This time we were able to get a fair share of shrimp .Then we checked crab traps and we were able to get a basket of blue crabs. Now its time for a seafood dinner. Thanks Captain John and first mate Chris for a great day out!! Dont hesitate to book your trip with these guys!!
Had a very good time with the Captain John and First Mate, both were very polite and knowledgeable. They encouraged interaction with hauling in the shrimp nets, sorting, and taught us how to bait using crabs we caught shrimping. Something that my family has not done before (lobsters, crabs, and clams done already). The Captain was upfront about not having a good turn out with his crab pots that week and did not want us wasting time on something he didn't feel was going to be successful. After sorting and bagging two laundry baskets of large shrimp we headed out to the bridge pilings and managed to land a large Black Drum. We were entertained with many other catch and release fish. Overall a great time for us as we looked to fulfill another first time experience. Be sure to bring a cooler with ice to keep your catch fresh. Captain John directed us to a local packing facility (Fresh Catch Seafood in Wanchese - absolutely amazing people) who cleaned, brined and flash froze our abundant haul of shrimp for a very reasonable price ensuring our catch will keep until its all consumed, even with a 12 hour drive home.
An hour into this trip my 15 and 12 year old both asked if we could do the same trip and boat next year. We’ve been fishing in the OBX for 8 years and this was by far the most fun. We did shrimping, crabbing, and fishing. Capt. John and mate Chris were two awesome dudes who helped and took us on a great 6 hour trip. Ended up with a Spanish Mackerel, over 10 pounds of shrimp, and 2 bushels of crabs!! Highly recommend this charter, you won’ be disappointed. The Captain was ready to pivot what the family wanted to do and when asked we pulled gear and ran to do what the kids wanted. my wofe is also on board to go back and do the same trip next year which is a hige win!!

My friends and family had so much fun fishing and chatting with Captain John and his mate Chris. We signed up for fishing and shrimping but the shrimp weren’t as abundant the day we went so we checked the crab traps and made sure we left with enough fish, shrimp, and crab to feed a large crowd. These guys are amazing and they know what they are doing! 100% recommend a charter with them!

Captain John and Deck Hand Chris are absolutely amazing. The knowledge they share the experience they give you for my dad who’s 81 my mother’s age we will not disclose and my seven-year-old son, including myself at a great time. It was quite the experience without a doubt we’ll do it again and without a doubt it’s a highly recommend to do as a family or just as an angler. It’s just a completely different different perspective and you get an understanding of how commercial fishing works in a small but plentful sense !
