Hooked On Fishing Charters 

Group of Washingtonians coming up to Vancouver Island for the first time. This charter was the perfect way to end the trip, as we were treated to an easy, enjoyable, and epic adventure around Sooke Bay with Captain Josh. Going for all things salmon, he got us on some beautiful wild Chinooks in the first thirty minutes before we reeled in our third fish, and first keeper. Once the bite slowed, Capt Josh immediately kept the momentum up by trolling us faster and shallower to see the Coho bite. It was a slow but consistent bite, with some small Chinook shakers and Native Coho going back before we got a nice keeper Coho. On the way back in to the bay we also got a nice pink #bonus! Into the smoker she'll go. Finally, the crab pots only yielded one male, but such does it go these days. Overall, even beyond the satisfactory performance of fishing Capt Josh yielded, he was a pleasure to be with and was a helpful guide who let us get to see what this island is all about!

Today’s outing off Vancouver Island was memorable: we successfully landed an 80 cm Chinook salmon, nearly boated two other potential catches that escaped just before they breached the surface, and encountered a bounty of crabs—most of which we ethically released due to regulations and conservation concerns. Huge thanks to our captain for keeping us on the fish and making the day a blast—couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

Fishing with Josh was just the hands on experience we were looking for. The last thing we wanted was to be packed on a boat with a bunch of people we didn't know. When you book with Josh, you book the boat. Josh was a great capitan and provided us with a hands on experience which is what we wanted. By the end of the trip, we had caught 1 x 80cm king salmon, 1 wild coho (which we released due to restrictions at the time) and a bunch of dungeness crabs. Would highly recommend fishing with Josh!

Went out for full 12 hour day with Josh to get the most out of my first fishing experience in the Pacific Northwest. He was punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable about the bay. Set me up to catch a 25lb Halibut and some release Coho salmon. Awesome time, definitely good for both beginners and experienced fishermen. He even helped me cook up some of my fish and a crab since I’m at a hotel. The experience exceeded my expectation and I highly recommend fishing with Josh.

Joshua is a very personable and approachable captain with great experience and enthusiasm for fishing. He also brought 2 crab cages with him, so we fished not only for salmon but also for crabs. We spent the first 4 hours out at sea in fine weather but without catching anything. Only in the last half hour did a salmon bite. Joshua was almost happier about it than I was. The crab harvest was more than sufficient

I moved to the island with only the knowledge of freshwater fishing. After many attempts from shore I figured it was time to try further out. I was so happy to find captain Josh at hooked on fishing charters. His knowledge and experience not only helped me land a 17 lbs Chinook but he was great at teaching me how to do it. The price was better than anywhere I could find for a single person charter. 10/5 stars

This was the first time I've ever been on charter before, and I'm definitely going to be booking this again. I did this as a little surprise for my partner and Josh was super informative of what to expect hopping on a boat out in the sea for the first time. If you're at all thinking about booking one this is the guy that I would call. Yes I caught a 40lb+ halibut.

Had an amazing evening. Great views. Great Sunset. Even better 🦀. Salmon was slow. Had some exciting moments. But all in all..it wasn't for the lack of knowledge or trying. They call it fishing for a reason. Would most definitely do it again. Thanks for the great evening.
