Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Feel free to bring your own snacks!
Your fishing machine for the day is a 28' Hydra-Sports center console that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don't forget to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

Our family of five - 3 teenagers- had never been striper fishing before. We received a welcome letter the night before which had valuable information, particularly about what to wear and bring. Capt Eric was a great teacher and related well to everyone. After a short stint jigging for mackerel, we spent 3 hours hunting for stripers (no success). Eric worked hard throughout that time to put us on some fish and kept the mood upbeat. On the trip back into harbor , our luck turned and we ran into a school of stripers. Eric managed the rods efficiently and everyone caught at least one striper. The boat was very comfortable for the five of us with places to stretch out when you weren't fishing. It even has a small bathroom to use during the trip. This was a five star experience all around. Our family will definitely be going out on a charter with Capt Eric again.

Captain Eric was amazing! We had 6 people on board: mom, dad, grandpa and 3 kids. Eric was patient and attentive the entire time and great with the kids who are ages 9, 9, and 5! Quotes from the kids: “Best fishing trip ever! I caught a 38” striped bass!” “It was awesome and I caught dinner!” Highly recommend for a family friendly and somehow relaxing time out on the water!

Our charter with Captain Eric was the highlight of our Maine trip. Despite a slow start, Captain Eric kept us on the prowl and even stayed out an extra 45 minutes to make sure everyone on the boat was able to catch a Striped Bass. Captain Eric himself was friendly, knowledgable, and skilled, making sure we got the most out of our time on the water. We highly recommend working with GQ Charters!
My kids will always remember this trip!!! Captain Eric is extremely friendly, great with kids & facilitated in catching mackerel, lobsters and striped bass. The boat is beautiful, modern and clean. I did a lot of research in finding a Charter and my expectations were exceeded!! Book at least 4 hours, you won’t regret it!!!

Eric was a great hospitable host! We caught some mackerel but despite the captains best efforts the stripers eluded us. Some days are like that! The boat was clean and the conditions comfortable with six passengers. I would definitely book again. It was good family time regardless of the outcome. We packed snacks and there were beverages on board. Bonus was getting to see a seal on our trip!
