Captain Dave Hegel while attending East Carolina University in the early 1980's, worked at Sea Ox Boats in Greenville, NC. Every weekend: the Sea Ox Fishing Team, w/ 20-year-old deck mate Dave Hegel, would take customers out of Beaufort Inlet for fishing trips. After nearly 40 years as an executive in the fishing/boating industry; Captain Dave retired to guide full time; year-round and lives on these waters. Captain Dave has decades of experience fishing with industry legends.
Based in Oriental, NC; Pamlico Pirate Fishing Charters offers Beaufort, Cape Lookout, Neuse River & Pamlico Sound Charters to chase the amazing NC various species opportunities. From; 'Fat Alberts' or false albacore @ the famed Cape Lookout 'Hook' in the fall, to Cobia & Bonita in the Spring followed by Trophy Redfish, Slot Reds, Bluefish, Trout and Striper in the amazing Neuse River & Pamlico Sound system spring to fall. ALL are fantastic light tackle fun! If your thing is to catch a shark, Captain Dave LOVES to catch shark on the reefs! You can expect to do some adjustments to what the best odds are during the day, or maybe something more specialized piques your interest in this area. Captain Dave also offers fly fishing, but you do need to bring your own fly gear.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Feel free to bring your own snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Capt. Dave operates a 2025 23' Parker 23SE w/ T Top, center console with room for 4 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, as well as lures. Live bait and artificial are both used based on seasonal and species targeted.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip!
