In Cortez, there are marinas, piers, and docks all over the place. However, the town’s western shore is where most fishing boats are found. Launching from one of the marinas around the Cortez Bridge will allow you quick access to any of the surrounding bays, rivers, or offshore fishing grounds you decide to visit.

Anglers fishing aboard a licensed Cortez fishing charter don’t need a saltwater license. However, if you’re planning on testing the waters on your own or looking to wade the flats with a guide, you will need to get a valid license before wetting your line. Also keep in mind that you’ll need to book with a federally licensed charter if you’d like to experience the offshore action.
