Fishing in Everglades City

Located at the mouth of the Barron River on Chokoloskee Bay, you’ll find one of the few places where you can truly connect with nature while staying close to some of Florida’s big cities. With luscious mangrove forests and abundant flats, fishing in Everglades City is a unique adventure best experienced first hand. With access to prolific brackish waters, as well as rich saltwaters, this is a truly versatile fishery.

Known as the “Stone Crab Capital of the World,” Everglades is a must-visit if you want to get some delicious crabs cooked to perfection. There’s no shortage of fish species you can target either, as these waters are teeming with the likes of Tarpon, Pompano, Bass, Snook, Mangrove Snapper, Grouper, Ladyfish, Speckled Trout, Shark, and Tripletail.

Make the most of the amazing backwater fishing by booking a half day trip and exploring the Chokoloskee Bay. These are great trips for the whole family that can spice up your vacation. A full day trip will take the more experienced anglers further out to Gulf-facing waters with more flats and mangrove islands. If you have the time, visit the famous Ten Thousand Islands for some more action!

Surrounded by water on all sides, finding a fishing charter in Everglades City is as easy as it can be. With an area size of just 1.2 square miles, you’ll find a boat wherever you turn. You can also head down to the famous Chokoloskee Island and take your pick. No matter where you choose to depart from, the fishing action is epic!

Rules & Regulations

Booking a fishing charter will cover your license when it comes to saltwater fishing. However, if you’re interested in freshwater fishing, you’ll need to buy a Florida fishing license in advance. Note that some species fall under strict regulations, so choosing a reputable captain is the best way to make sure you’re fishing legally.
