Cobia fishing in Florida, United States draws anglers who love hard fights and great table fare. Cobia grow big, cruise shallow and nearshore waters, and hit with power. You can target them along both coasts through much of the year.

Guides often use inshore sight casting, nearshore trolling, and bottom fishing over wrecks. Sight casting means spotting fish and then casting right to them. Live crabs, eels, and pinfish, plus bright jigs, are go-to baits.

Most trips run on safe, seaworthy boats with quality tackle ready. Captains handle the plan, from finding structure to reading tides. Bring sun protection, polarized sunglasses, snacks, and any motion sickness meds you prefer.

On the Atlantic side, look to the Space Coast and First Coast during spring runs. The Florida Keys offer winter chances when fish push through warm water. On the Gulf, the Panhandle, Big Bend, Tampa Bay, and Southwest Florida see steady nearshore action. Rigs, buoys, channel markers, wrecks, and rays or turtles often draw hungry Cobia.

Rules change, so check current Florida fishing license, permit, season, and harvest regulations before your trip. Your captain will advise what applies in state or federal waters. When in doubt, confirm the latest rules and keep only what is allowed.

    Book it, you won’t regret!

Captain Joey and Linda were awesome! Both are super knowledgeable, friendly, and their experience definitely showed! They knew exactly where to put us on the fish. We caught an awesome variety: cobia, grouper, snapper, flounder, mackerel, jack, grunts. Easy booking, great location, and just an all-around great crew. Highly recommend!!! As a local, we’ll definitely be back!
