What a bad day to be a fish! Snapper season officially opened in the northern Gulf of Mexico for federal waters on 6/1. With the weather being outstanding ft here were lots and lots of anxious anglers ready to catch the big one. Butch Vance from Prattville Al did just that on the Jus Cuz charter boat out of Orange Beach. Butch managed to catch a 37" 30# fish that gave him quite a battle. While he was doing battle with his fish, several other anglers were also doing the same with 18# fish of their own. A great day for fishing on the Jus Cuz this morning. Light winds and fair seas afforded for a variety of fishing today. Starting out trolling we managed a few King mackerel before beginning our bottom fishing pursuit of Triggerfish and amberjack. We ended up hooking up to several amberjack before finally hooking a legal size fish. Amberjack have to be 34"s before you can keep them. Unfortunately, a bull shark got to the fish before we could bring him to gaff and left us with nothing but the head of the fish. After another fish was also eaten we decided not to continue feeding the Sharks. Not to worry though! We moved to another area and found a great bite of triggers to make it an awesome trip. They were a large grade of fish which filled gallon ziplocks for our customers to take home and enjoy! To end the day we hooked and caught a 25# or so King mackerel about 1 Mike from the Perdido Pass Sea Bouy! Thanks to the Scott and Corey and their kids for choosing the Jus Cuz! Captain Albert

Fast and furious best describes how the fish were biting on our fishing trip Sunday. Family and friends joined to make our maiden voyage on our newly acquired boat a huge success! Captain Mike from the charter boat Sure Shot joined in, to make this a most memorable trip. After a very short ride in somewhat choppy conditions, we arrived at our first spot. The first spot proved to be a lesson on just how hard it is to pull a fully grown big red snapper away from his shallow water home, All I will say is there is a lot of angle iron in which to part your line from the hooked fish. Big red snapper after big red snapper would take us to the cleaners, much to the displeasure of our captain! After rerigging several times, Marci and Hunter managed a nice fish to gaff. Finally it seemed there was some hope that we would end up with a few nice fish after all! These fish are really quite a challenge. Living in shallow water, these large snapper will crush a large 6/0 reel loaded with 80# line and heavy drag! After taking your bait just feet below the boat, they are strong enough to manage to peel line off the reel and make it to they're home below where they will soon be free from your attempt to make a meal out of them! Before we completely conceded to these mean beast below, Shawn managed to bring to gaff a 20# behamoth of a snapper! Quite an accomplishment for a tall Texan who typically Crappie and bass fishs! He was stoked to say the least! And last but not least, Capt Cuz, (myself) was also able to pull a couple of the stubborn advesarries to the surface. Others on the boat got in on the action and before you knew it we were headed back with what turned out to be an AWESOME catch. Wam! Line started peeling off the triolling line just a few minutes out of the pass this morning! The big king haven't really showed up yet so I was suspect that we may have hooked a jack crevalle. Then as we were watching out behind the boat for the line I saw a brown back on the surface and knew we had hooked a cobia! After a lengthy battle we were able to gaff it and get the fish in the box. What a great start to what ended up a productive trolling session on the way out to bottom fish. We also caught a nice king further out and as we approached our first area to bottom fish, public bridge rubble, we left the lines in and hooked 3 amberjack. One broke off and one was too small. We harvested o e keeper 34.5 ".1/2 " to the good for a legal amberjack. The fish are co-operating so book your trip and come catch some fun on the Jus Cuz! Jus Cuz you can

Got a late start today but it worked out for the best. Fished hard with my 2 lovely daughters and they're signicant others. Also had a couple of local fisherman on board to round out for a full crew. The trigger close have been picked over pretty good, so we headed on offshore to some spots I felt like may not have been tapped on yet. We managed a limit and caught plenty of big snapper in the process. Straightened a lot of hooks as we use small wire hooks for trigger that bend easily to the hard pull of big snapper! It was a awesome and blessed day on the Jus Cuz!

Although the weather was iffy at best, Captain Bo Keough and Sean managed to tough it out on Jus Cuz and bring back some satisfied customers. Trigger fish were the catch of choice and a successful trip it was! A limit of real nice fish and were able to release a lot of nice snapper to boot.
