Captain Tommy was fantastic. He reached out a few days ahead and asked if we had flexibility in our plans as there were several fly fishing groups booked and he tried to cater to the fly fishermen. If we weren’t flexible, he said it wouldn’t be a problem, but we were on vacation and flexibility while on vacation is kind of the point. Communication ahead of time is important and he was was great and quick.  Once we arrived, were in the boat fast and on our way.  We had a great day on the water and despite the challenges my dad and I had with casting - if you haven’t salt water fished, it’s different and it took us some time to learn. Tommy was patient and worked hard to not only teach us but put us on the fish!  We had a great day and I’d highly recommend!  Tarpon fishing with a fly rod is simply awesome!

Capt Fernando Montalvo Was awesome. Very knowledgable put me right in the fish. Hooked up to a tarpon within 15 mins. And another 2 throughout the trip. After sitting with cut bait we moved to another spot we’re capt Fernando put me right on top of a frenzy of tarpon. I wanted to use my new custom rod I built just for this trip and I landed a nice 3ft tarpon on a topwater spook which is the best feeling ever. After missing a few more bites my topwater got demolished by a trophy triple digit tarpon. I fought it for a couple mins getting great videos of my rod and the fish jumping before it broke off. It was the best trip I could have asked for in Puerto Rico. I will definitely be booking next time I visit. 10/10 all around. Friendly fun and even taught me the fg knot wait waiting for a bite. Thanks again man.

Took my Dad out for Tarpon fishing while in Puerto Rico. My cell phone wouldn’t connect so I was a little stressed when I couldn’t call the captain to confirm.  Start time was 0700, and at 0715 I was getting worried we were in the wrong spot.  Then Alex came cruising up and called my name.  He had been out catching the bait, and they have to do it just as the sun is coming up, at 640… so, just be patient if they’re a little late picking you up.  Overall there wasn’t a lot of action, of 3 boats Alex let us know we were the only one that ended up with fish in the boat.  My Dad and I both hooked up and landed a Tarpon, and got to enjoy a wonderful 4 hours on the water with some great views around the mangroves and the lagoon.  Alex was educational,  pleasant and professional but also relaxed and willing to talk about the island, himself and different aspects of Puerto Rico.  If we come back I’ll be booking another trip for sure

Mateo was excellent and put us all on tarpon. Not only did we get tarpon, but they were the biggest fish any of us had ever caught. A Tarpon in the 50lb range and another one estimated at over 88lbs were the highlight of the trip. Be patient and understand you don’t always win at fishing, but sometimes you can fish with someone like Mateo who can greatly increase your chances of having a day like we had today. 5 Stars!

My lady and I came to San Juan on a cruise and had a great time fishing with Alex while we were there.

He was great at answering questions, helping with my ladies’ bait and line, and most importantly, finding the fish.

He was great at handling the boat and putting you in a position to get strikes. We tried multiple spots and approaches to target the tarpon.

We enjoyed Alex’s casual approach and fun. He was super friendly and great at communicating what he saw in the water, as well as what he felt the fish were doing in terms of eating and where they would be moving to.
