Amazing spring Salmon action!

May has been excellent for our spring salmon season. We have been catching nice numbers of medium sized King Salmon 6-12 lbs. The water remains cold and there has been an abundance of salmon in shallow waters close to the harbor.

There has been a good amount of medium to large King Salmon being caught this spring in shallow waters close to the harbor. The size and quantity of the salmon make us optimistic that it us going to be a great season!

Our morning 5 hr. Hardcore salmon trips have been producing some excellent catches. Late August though Mid September is the prime time to fish for these trophies. We have been having excellent results trolling plugs and spoons just outside the rivermouth in the shallow waters of Lake Michigan. This time of year it isn’t unusual to hook into a few of these beasts even on our 2 hr. Harbor fishing trips.

Prime Salmon Season has arrived!

The water has cooled down and fall is just around the corner. That means prime season for King Salmon has arrived. We have been catching large King and Coho Salmon in shallow water and the rivermouth the last week. The morning and afternoon trips have been producing excellent catches. We have been trolling a mixture of spoons and plugs and the action has been hot and heavy!

Amazing King Salmon action

Fishing has been incredible just off of the Grand Haven coastline. There has been an abundance of large King Salmon, Steelhead and coho salmon in shallow waters 40-60 ft. We have been trolling primarily with spoons and flasher/fly combos. We have caught several kings over 20lbs. Already in July. August and September fishing should remain excellent.

The Great Lakes Grand Slam!!

We were able to complete the Great Lakes Grand Slam today! 5 different species all caught during one 7 hr. Ultimate Salmon Trip. We caught King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead and Lake Trout. Not only did we complete the Grand Slam our two customers limited out with 5 fish each!

Captain and crew pretty nice but ... Really? I have been fishing for over 40 years, salmon and steelhead on Rogue river, on big lake out of Holland, Muskegon and Grand Haven and these guys acted/assumed I had never been fishing. Pretty insulting to have the first mate hold your rod down and the captain yelling “keep your rod down!” Would have been a good experience except for that, kinda ruined the mood. I don’t enjoy spending over 600.00 bucks and having that attitude.... More

Victor, Thanks for providing your feedback. Typically the job of the crew is to put you on fish. After reviewing your trip with the captain you did get many chances at fighting fish unfortunately your landing percentage was not great. This can happen when fighting bigger fish like salmon and especially coho salmon. It isn’t anyone’s fault for not being able to land 100% of the time. Thanks for providing your feedback. Typically the job of the crew is to put you on fish. After reviewing your trip with the captain you did get many chances at fighting fish unfortunately your landing percentage was not great. This can happen when fighting bigger fish like salmon and especially coho salmon. It isn’t anyone’s fault for not being able to land 100% of the time. Any true sportsman will tell you is more about the experience and opportunity rather than what is caught or killed on any given day. Hopefully you will give it a try again next season.
