Half a day with Captain Caleb

Caleb was absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable and a great teacher. He was easy to talk to and very helpful. I would highly recommend his guide service to anyone who wants to catch fish.

Our first Salmon trip.  Didn’t know what to expect and was honestly very concerned about getting skunked.  But Caleb was a total Pro and patiently guided us to various spots out on the water between St. Mary’s Church and Megler Bridge.  Hooked up on some nice ones. 

After Caleb filleted the fish for us, we had the cuts vac-sealed and then packed on ice for the drive back to Portland.  To get them home, we bought some dry ice and these great little green coolers by Coleman at Fred Meyer.  We were able to check it as luggage for the 4-hour flight. 

NOTE: Save those Salmon Collars folks.  Delicious eating.  Go to any Japanese restaurant and they will charge you $20 or more bucks for them…grilled to perfection and perfect with Beer! I noticed many people tossing the heads away with collars intact!

Caleb was AWESOME! He called us multiple times during the week leading up to our trip and made sure we were prepared with proper licensing and clothing needs, in addition to discussing possible fishing locations for the trip to ensure we had a higher chance to catch fish. My husband and I are beginner fishers. Heck. I had never even cast a line, but Caleb was patient enough to help me learn! Caleb made my husband and I feel very comfortable with Steelhead fishing and never stopped encouraging us. He had more than enough equipment and backup equipment for all of our fishing needs. Caleb answered every question we had without making us feel like newbies. Unfortunately, the river wasn’t in our favor (or any other fishers) and we only caught babies that we had to release, but totally worth the trip!! I highly recommend!
