Aug 12, 2023 Cabo San Lucas
The fishing aboard the "Fin Chaser" proved to be a remarkable adventure filled with strategic angling and abundant catches. The vessel embarked on a trolling journey along the picturesque expanse of the Pacific Coast, employing a meticulously planned approach that combined trolling lures and rigged dead bait and casting live bait when encountering schools of Mahi fish. Details: The "Fin Chaser" set sail on a calm morning, the anticipation palpable among the crew as they ventured out to the Pacific Coast's bountiful fishing grounds. Equipped with a skilled and seasoned crew, the boat's reputation as a fishing vessel with the right lures and an expert team had set high expectations. The trolling technique was the primary strategy adopted for the day's angling. Rigged dead bait was artfully arranged and spread across the water, meticulously mimicking the movements of natural prey. The crew's understanding of the currents and their ability to adjust the spread's depth and distance from the boat played a vital role in attracting the attention of elusive pelagic species. As the "Fin Chaser" continued its journey up the coast, its crew's patience and experience were rewarded when a school of Mahi fish was spotted. Swiftly transitioning from trolling to casting live bait, the crew showcased their adaptability and proficiency in responding to changing conditions. Precision casting and skillful retrieval techniques resulted in multiple hookups, with the vibrant colors of the Mahi fish shimmering against the backdrop of the deep blue sea. Throughout the trip, laughter and the thrill of successful catches created an atmosphere of accomplishment and enjoyment. As the day came to a close, the "Fin Chaser" returned to the harbor laden with an impressive haul of Mahi. The trip had not only yielded a bountiful catch but had also showcased the vessel's reputation as a proficient fishing boat, guided by a crew that expertly showcased their techniques.

**hidden content** Dock F, IGY Marina. Conditions: Weather was rough at the begining of the week with a storm aproaching Cabo from the south then slowly moving west offshore. This made for a rough time fishing offshore for the pelagics, with warm water coming in thanks to el niรฑo weather. Water temperatures are above 80 degrees, days remain sunny with few cattered clouds. Species: Striped Marlin, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Swordfish, Dorado/Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna. Throughout the week numbers have been steady and increasing all over the map there is a wide range of species biting. From reports of Swordfish, to the unexpected hookups of black and blue marlin with several breaking off on light tackle. Big billfish are showing up early and catching crews off guard. Striped Marlin: From offshore on the lighthouse to the 95, 1150, horseshoe. We are raising Striped Marlin trolling lures, rigged bait, teasers, and dredges. Casting live bait from the bow, or dropping live bait in the spread when they come up behind lures. Dorado / Mahi Mahi: Big Bulls have moved in with the warmer water, they were first reported in the sea of cortez. We caught one over 55lbs the week before, with one 45lb and another at 35lbs the following days. They are still biting in good numbers. On medium and small lures, rigged bait, or small live bait. YFTuna: Have made a much anticipated appereance we found a couple of schools of porpoise producing good numbers of football sized tuna. They key to a succesfull tuna trip is leaving port early, and spending the fuel for running a good 15 - 20 miles to where warm water and temperature breaks converge with water currents. We do this while scanning the water with our Gyro stabilized binoculars. One single trip produced 8 yellowfin for our guests. Roosters: Few on live mullet with luck you will get a bite on the pacific side. Tips: The early morning is producing the best fishing. lures in bright colors are working well. Overall highly experienced and knowledgeable crews have best chances of catching fish in current conditions. High quality tackle has definitely been a factor in increasing odds of success.
