The day couldn’t be any more perfect.  Started off with us arriving at the harbor with a number of other people and boats gearing up.

Though it was crowded an a bit hard to see where to go to check-in the fisherman hanging around were very friendly and helpful, pointing us in the direction to sign in.  After a few quick minutes we were walked to our boat and captain. To be honest it was hard to tell whether the boat we booked matched in name but the size and setup seemed to be what we asked for.

Our Captain, Felipe was quiet but seemed to know his stuff.  A man of few words he took us out after getting some fresh bait, and we headed out about 30 minutes to a designated area where a few other boats also setup.  From there the day really took off. Almost immediately, we began catching fish.  And for the first part of the day we were catching fish about every 15 minutes.  There were sierras, red snappers, and we even caught a trigger fish. 

On top of the fishing it was whale watching season and that was such an added bonus.  We saw several dozen whales though out the day. Some were as close as 30-40 yard and some even breeched the water jumping nearly clear out of it.  It was awesome.

By the end of it all we caught a dozen fish, and said we’d definitely come back in hopes of pursuing some of the larger varieties next time.

We wanted tuna.  We went on a 6 hour tour and caught a 3 fish (2 tuna).  We were in a 26 ft boat.  I was worried this boat might be too small but for the fishing grounds where the tuna were located it was perfect.  It took about 50-70 min to get there, we slow trolled (almost drifted).  Only missed one, which was probably a wahoo. 

Communication before and during was fantastic.  We got private transportation 2 way on the way there arranged by them which was very reasonable.  If someone wanted to spend some time at the marina afterwords maybe one way would work.  FYI- 2 way was perfect for me and I didn’t really want my first Uber trip in Mexico to be before sunrise off of my hotel property. 

I was worried a 26 ft boat might not be stable enough, but it worked it pretty well.  Maybe if the weather wasn’t cooperating but for our fishing grounds and my weather it worked out well.

I got a cup of coffee before we left at marina.  We were asked if we Al wanted to buy , pop chips, beer before we arrived but we brought our own food & water. 

We got our fish fillet right after we docked, we saved some which will be prepared by our hotel, but also had some prepared at the dock for lunch (sashimi & ceviche). Nice way to conclude our trip. 

Felipe and Carlos Francisco are great. They know what they’re doing and created a great experience for us. Caught a bunch of rooster fish and some needle fish. No tuna or marlin today but we had great action nonetheless. Our 26ft boat was well kept and handled the wind and waves easily. Carlos especially was great ensuring we had solid hooksets before handing over the pole to fight them fishes.

We booked a four hour afternoon outing with Delakin. We were concerned whether we had missed the better part of the day, but the afternoon was the only time in our schedules.  Our guide and captain, Francisco, was hard working and knowledgeable about the waters and equipment. We pulled in a bonito tuna within 15 minutes.  We then caught three good size pacific bluefin tuna and kept the first two, which was more than enough toro for our family for the week.  We also caught a mackerel that made a great ceviche that evening.

I was taken out by Ruben, who took me to where the fish were. I highly recommend this crew for your next fishing adventure, truly amazing time. I will definitely book again with them on my next visit to Cabo…
