Captain Jim appears to have a good knowledge of the waters he fish. He pays attention to the weather, tides, regulation and everything that effects fishing that day. I believe he truly wants his clients to be successful. I would not hesitate to fish with him again. However, I would not fish the Columbia River again. The regulations are intentionally designed to ensure that the fisherman goes home empty handed or with little to show for a day on the water. Short seasons, fishing with hooks with no barbs, unable to keep “native” salmon, size limits, etc, are all intended to disadvantage the fisherman. That said, Captain Jim did his best.

Super fun trip, captain Jim got us out on the water and got us fish, he knows the rivers well and he even fillets your fish for you and gives you recommendations around the area for fishing and what to use. Super nice guy and a great guide, would go again if we ever are looking for another guide.

We planned this trip for a long time. Me and my boyfriend never had a guided tour before. We were praying for no rain and we had that, but we didn’t catch any salmon,
Jim used all of his “magic” tricks and we fished at multiple spots. Despite all that, we had a wonderful time with Jim. He entertained us with amazing stories and kept up with my boyfriend “s 1000’s of questions.

We enjoyed a perfect day fishing with Captain Jim.  His experience had us landing fish despite it being a slow day on the river.  We persevered when others quit early and headed home.  We are already planning our next trip and would definitely recommend Captain Jimbo to anyone interested in having a great experience!
