Lots of double and triple weakfish hook ups on every drift this morning. We also saw a larger average size with several weakfish topping 5 pounds.

Good weakfish bite the past few days. All live bait on light tackle spinning rods. Lots of 1-5 pound bluefish and some fluke in the mix.

Banded rudderfish

An end of summer tradition. Once the water temperature in Jamaica Bay reaches its peak, expect banded rudderfish to be a frequent bycatch while targeting any of out local species. As our water temperature falls, bait will flush out of our harbors and be met by ravenous schools of striped bass and bluefush. Affectionately called the “fall run”.

Lights out Bonito fishing!

We have been into some if the best bonito fishing in years in NYC! These speedy critters pull drag and taste great. We have been on them steady for the past two weeks and it only seens to be getting better and better.

My son and I had a wonderful time with Captain Austin. He’s an excellent fisherman, does a great job of getting you in position to catch fish, and is very engaging. Caught multiple species and learned a lot about the local fishing grounds.
