The big bay has a lot of submerged sites (old drilling platforms, sunken barges) that make for good fishing. It really helps to go with someone who knows the bay.

Let your Captain know exactly what you want when you board. If you want inshore for an hour or two and then shark for the rest, he’ll accommodate. Great trip!

Seas were high after days of strong storms. 15+ ft swells all around the jetty. Bay fishing was calm.

Get a guide!!! They have all the right equipment and experience to be sure you catch some great fish.

Watch the weather. It was really windy and the wind had the water all churned up and muddy. Fish were not biting as well as they maybe would have otherwise.

I would reccomend to first timer fishers to take a fishing guide trip or go to a fishing pier and ask plenty of questions! Its the ocean, much different than fresh water. Its good to be informed!

Book a fishing trip with Captain Shannon. We had a wonderful and exciting time. We definitely would book again.

Talk to the locals before you buy any equipment, you don't need as much as you think. Bring enough water.

Check on the weather , if you like it hot go for it. It is muggy here in July for sure. We had a good fun experience fishing.

The summer months are better weather, but we had good conditions in May. Plus we used live shrimp under a cork. which made the fishing easy for us.

Find a service that has an experienced captain or crew. Ask questions about your outing. Do some research before booking. Summer months are really the best time to go in Galveston.

Wear sun screen and a hat. The reflection off of the water will burn you just as easy as the sunlight will. Relax and enjoy the trip and let your guide do their job in finding the fish.

Be prepared for cool conditions. We were a little cold because we didn't prepare well. Bring layers, and you will be fine.

Fish during the good season. Fishing in March can be difficult. The season in March can be good and can be bad, just depends on several things.

Spring months offer different fish than in the summer months. Talk to your guide to see what fish you’ll target before you book.

March in Galveston can be tricky weather wise so plan accordingly. It can be shorts weather one day, coats and gloves the next.

Yes, but with fluctuating temperatures from the 40's,50's and 60's the fish move around quite a bit. It helps to know those patterns.
