As the water temperatues are nearing the 80 degree mark the inshore Tarpon Snook and Redfish bite is outstanding! We have also been seeing alot of Dolphins, Manatees and Turtles! The Tarpon have begun their migration north and have been moving through our waters in significant numbers. We have been catching them off the Sanibel/Captiva beaches and drifiting the passes with large blue crabs and live threadfin herring. Snook are fully within their spring cycle of moving towards the beaches and eating as many baitfish as they can. We have been catching good sized and large numbers of Snook & Redfish under docks, rock piles, deep cuts, and mangrove islands.

Lots of variety this past week! The weather is perfect and the fish are biting. We’ve been catching snook, redfish, tripletail, sharks, mackeral, jacks, pompano and even a few gag grouper! Also the dolphins are everywhere and the manatees are starting to move around!

After an unusually warm December we had water temps near 70 degrees into mid-January! Finally a strong front dropped the water temp into the upper 50’s, bringing with it big sheepshead! A delicious fish that eats only crustaceans, they can be a tricky fish to hook. We had an amazing few hours, catching one big guy after another, keeping our two-man limit of 16 while releasing a half dozen more legal fish... To top off the trip we landed a 34” snook on light tackle! What a great day!!

We’ve been very blessed to have a killer snook/redfish bite this December! The majority of the fish have been in the 21 to 25 inch range, with some bigger fish are normally mixed in! Its great to see the fish populations rebounding so quickly!!

While the inshore fishing has been pretty good the past week, some of my clients have really enjoyed watching the local dolphins in their natural habitat! The dolphins have been extremely active and playful, swimming right up to the boat checking us out/showing off!

The last week has been some truly great fishing! Very consistent action and perfect weather makes for some epic days on the water. Plus we’ve been seeing alot of dolphins, flocks of white pelicans, and super low tides for shelling.
