The weather has started to change and we are seeing a slight cooling of temperatures. For many people this is their favorite time to go deep sea fishing aboard the Lady Black. We target a variety of species of fish but none is quite as popular as the Snapper. There are well over 100 different types of Snapper and locally we have five species that are caught fairly often with several others that are occasionally caught. One of the best eating of the local snapper is the Vermillion Snapper. Vermillion also go by the name Beeliner as they are locally known but you may hear them referred to as Mingo Snapper also. These bright red fish with gold specks and intense red eyes are as good to look at as they are to eat. They can be found on both wrecks and hard bottom and when found have a voracious appetite. When these fish are in a feeding frenzy they can be caught two or even three at a time. Come with us aboard the Lady Black and tell your Captain you want t some Snapper for supper.

Summer is here on the Emerald Coast and so are the fish! The bait has shown up in good numbers and this means that the fish are too. King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, and Blackfin Tuna have shown up. This mornings trip we were bottom fishing and had a live herring on a flat line out. The water erupted as a nice Blackfin Tuna charged the Live bait out of the water catching it in mid air before going on a scalding run. The fish took 200 yards of line on its first run and made several others before being brought to the boat where the deckhand gaffed the fish. We caught King Mackerel and a variety of snappers and bottom fish. Its going to be a great year aboard the Black Magic.

Spring fishing has been pretty good and as the water continues to warm more exotic pelagic will appear. Spanish Mackerel and Cobie have been good and a few King Mackerel have been caught. We are looking forward to the next few weeks as the fishing begins to heat up more. We love kids and families and work hard to make your trip special.

Having kids onboard is so much fun! They get excited when the fish action is good as illustrated in this recent trolling trip. They were still pumped when they hit the dock as you can see. The bait has been plentiful and the fish have been active. Now is a great time to take either a bottom fishing trip or trolling trip.

In spite of all of the chaos going on right now we are fishing and having some wonderful families and friends enjoy great days on the water. We are encouraging the longer trips as they have been the better trips. Book your trip early as space is limited but we do have a few dates available.

June 1 opened federal red snapper for hire charter season and so far it has been excellent fishing with many nice fish being caught. State snapper opened a few days ago and along with that a lot more fishermen on the water after Prized Red Snapper. There are many varieties and fish off of Panama City Beach snapper grouper triggerfish be liners white snapper Lane snapper black snapper wahoo king macro Bonita sailfish shark just to name a few. Right now is a great time to fish so book your trip early we still have a few slots available
