July Mahi Mahi bite has been on Fire. Targeting these fish on light tackle spinning rods with live bait. Only the best equipment will do on the Good Hit, especially when targeting these fish on lighter gear. Fishing 10-20lb mainline spinning rods is also the most effective, heavy gear usually makes the fish line shy. We have been finding these fish 8-15miles offshore, which is best for the 6-8 Hour Charter, even with a fast boat. Giving ourselves plenty of time for searching the vast horizon. We also search for the debris as a team, the more eyes the better, even a first timers can help find something in the water. Looking for floating debris such as- tree stumps, trash cans, pallets, buckets, washer machines, have all been known to hold fish. Finding a large piece of debris in the middle of the ocean is like finding an oasis in the dessert. The normal depths that we have been finding Mahi is **hidden content**ft of water. Some of the most recent debris that we have found actually had a school of Wahoo under it. Trolling at high speed normally entices a Wahoo's appetite. In June and July we normally get our fair share of customers who want to target Swordfish. Just recently we had a repeat customer who booked for 2 days, he wanted to give Swordfishing a fair shot. We made sure our costumer was at the dock bright and early and ready for a long day at sea. In the summer, Swordfishing is ideal with windless conditions and calm seas. On day one we caught a 69" Swordfish with minutes to spare, completing our customers dreams of catching a Sword. The fish put on a great fight near the boat, even jumping entirely out of the water less than 6ft from the boat. Making our customer yell from excitement, it feels great to help someone tackle a life long goal. On the second day we targeted Swordfish, we ran into a giant school of Mahi Mahi, Bar Jacks, and Rainbow Runners. Losing track of our goal, because the missions was already completed we caught or fill and headed to the dock. I hope you guys enjoyed my post! Good Hit Sportfishing in South Florida, fishing out of Fort Lauderdale Beach at Bahia Mar Marina. The King Mackerel have finally arrived in big numbers, catching your limit trolling is not out of the question. Lots of bites on the kite with live Goggle Eyes and Pilchards. If you want to really catch them, use planners with Bonita and Mullet Strips. The colors that have been working recently has been Pink and Green. The Blackfin Tuna and Mahi Mahi arrived in the middle of April. The best time to fish for the Tunas is late in the afternoon. Kitefishing and flatline pichards have worked the best for us, if you can find Herring they work great as well. For the Mahi, when there is a strong East wind, the Dorados are usually found in **hidden content** ft deep, eating anything in sight. When the wind subsides and the seas are calm, you really need to find a decent size piece of debris or weed line, something define to fish to. Along with the Blackfins, the Wahoo's have made an appearance recently. A few local boats are getting shots at Wahoos during the full moon and the days around it. Last week we caught our limit of Kingfish by mid-morning and decided to head out to the fish in deeper water. We didn't make it to 500' of water before catching this Stud Wahoo on the Blue Spoon. The fish ate a 3 1/2" Blue Spoon on the #4 Planner Board, 200 feet behind the boat. Opening Grouper season started May 1st, the Gag Groupers have been bitting on the shallow wrecks 100'-175'. The best bait in my opinion is large live Pilchards on the bottom. I hope everyone enjoys my post, Make sure to get out for Grouper Season. April has Been a great month fishing out of Fort Lauderdale, Seeing Sailfish, Blackfin Tunas, Cobias, Kingfish, Mahi Mahi, Bonitos and Wahoos. We have mainly been kiting fishing throughout April, Mainly using the regular Thread Fin Herring. Having Bait this month is extremely important, with trolling regularly slow and live bait fishing very hot. On one trip we caught 6 out of 8 Sailfish, seeing a few more during the trip. On this trip we hooked a triple header out of a 6 banger. We saw bigger packs of Sailfish moving South at a high rate of speed, some of the better Sailfish action I have seen. The Mahi Mahi fishing has been hit or miss, with a few days producing Dolphin and a couple without. We are stilling hoping for a Big Push any day now. Later in April we had a few good days with meat fish, catching a Big Kingfish, Cobia, 2 Sailfish and a few Blackfin Tunas. I blame all the good fishing on the quality of bait, the bait that you can not buy but have to catch yourself. We also recently fished the Final Sailfish Tournament in the End of April. Grouper season opened May 1st and the groupers are biting, catch them while you can, because the bite is ON!!!

February fishing has been pretty successful, with the bottom fishing heating up and the blackfin tunas already arriving. March-June can be the best months for action in South Florida, catching Blackfin Tunas, Sailfish, Hammerhead Sharks, Kingfish, Dolphin and Mutton Snappers. Recently we have been catching lots of blackfin tunas with only bigger ones on the way. The ship wrecks along the coast are already starting to hold fish, catching mutton snappers, red snappers and Amber Jacks on live bait. The Sharks have already made an appearance in Fort Lauderdale, seeing Greater Hammerheads on the surface from 100'-400' of water. When the sharks show up, so do the larger Blackfin Tuna and the Mahi Mahi. Our sailfish bite last year started in March, and went all the way to the end of June, with action heating up we excpect a busy Season, So Book Your Trip Today! Captain Mike here with Good Hit Sportfishing, I have a couple winter reports for you guys, so here goes nothing. Last month we had a crazy month, swordfishing, sailfishing, and kingfishing. We had great success on a full moon Swordfishing trip, catching one swordfish exceeding 350lbs plus. We caught the fish 100' below the surface, on a 9" squid. The fish hit around 1:30 am as soon as the moon rose and we landed the fish at 3:00 am. It was quite the battle. Not only was the fish beautiful, but the color of the meat was orange, which is called a pumpkin. The best quality of swordfish you can eat, supposedly due to eating red shrimp in the Gulf of Mexico. The Next trip trip I want to talk about was Late December. We headed out with 4 young guys who wanted to catch a sailfish, and started in 140' of water directly off of Port Everglades. Fishing with 2 kites, and six lines, all baits were live threadfin herring caught fresh the day before. We quickly caught a double header sailfish, with less than 30 minutes into fishing. After fighting the fish into 250' of water, we decided to deploy the lines back in the water exactly where we were. I Bet you cant guess what happened 5 minutes later? ANOTHER DOUBLE HEADER, catching all the boys their first sailfish before 9am! First Week of January has been pretty productive as well , catching limits of kingfish on the troll, and catching Sailfish kite fishing when we have enough wind.
