Fishing has heated up this week out of Oregon Inlet! I think its the calm weather that has helped. We've hit the big red drum twice this week. The Spanish mackerel fishing has been excellent out in 60ft of water. Mixed in is 5lb-10lb false albacores which pull like crazy. around the inlet and beach the snapper blues are around in force. We've also seen several cobias that wouldn't take the jig. It's been good this week here along the Outer banks of NC. Thanks Devin Cage

The wind was tough for the first part of this week with persistent NE direction. But that wind clears the water and warms it up so afterwards fishing can be very good here along the Outer Banks of NC. This week we've landed red drum, plenty of 5lb-10lb false albacores, snapper bluefish and Spanish mackerel. The forecast for this upcoming week ( last week of Aug)is for light winds. That would work great on the fish we have around right now here at Oregon Inlet.

Fishing was tough last week lots of winds and cold water. That all changed this week when the winds finally calmed down. We landed some king mackerel, Spanish mackerel a few snapper blues in tight to the beach. Also had some tasty moonfish very mild on the table. False albacores to 15lbs have shown up great fight but not very good on the table, still good action! Good sign of bait in the area and I look for the kings and albacores to thicken up soon. Its been a tough 2 weeks here on the Outer Banks with all the rain and wind. It finally settled down and the bait and fish came together! Big red drum were hit, king mackerel were being taken while trolling mixed in with the Spanish and false albacores and moonfish ( great eating) were also being taken over a 2 mile area today 8/6. The big red drum have been showing up for the past 10 days off and on. Big fish though, fish to 50lbs. Also seen several cobias mixed in. Today 8/5 the Spanish mackerel showed back up with good catches. Off the beach limits of blueline tilefish are being taken dropping in the deep. Thanks Devin Cage

We've had 16" of rain Fishing has been tough for the past week due to heavy rainfall but the skies cleared this afternoon. Caught some snapper bluefish then worked off the beach with some bigger gear, ended up hitting the 30lb-40lb red drum landing 5 out of a school off Nags Head. Lets roll!
