The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day with storms possible, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. Once the stage was set, we got to work using a variety of techniques, including drift fishing, live bait fishing, and artificial lure fishing. The redfish and speckled trout were really cooperating, and we managed to land some impressive catches, including a 23-inch speckled trout. The techniques we used proved to be the perfect match for the conditions, and we had a great time working the area and finding the fish. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having had a wonderful time on the water. We set out from South Padre Island at 7:00 AM on a beautiful June morning, with clear conditions throughout the day. Our plan for the day was to utilize live bait fishing, surf fishing, and casting lures to target the abundant Spotted trout in the area. Throughout the trip, we were able to land several Spotted trout, with the largest measuring in at 18 inches. These feisty fish put up a great fight and are excellent table fare, making them a prime target for anglers visiting the South Padre Island region. While we didn't stick a trophy on this run, every cast and minute on the water was worth it.
