Book with George Strader , "George's Fishing Charter Service"! This guy will make your day! He had a sonogram instrument on his boat to find the fish. The day had a North Wind, which was not ideal for fishing--it kept the schools on the move and caused big swells in the gulf. The Bay, however, was excellent, much calmer & easier to find large schools of fish. The water was pretty cool but warm enough for a refreshing swim.

Fishing was great in December! Red Snapper was closed but we had a blast just catching and releasing! We caught our limit of King Mackerals and several other species including Lang Snapper, Grunts, and a Strawberry Grouper!l When you are from Wisconsin there is no better way to spend a December day than on the water in South Padre fishing!

Don't spend the night before out drinking and parting and then show up to the boat with out eating anything. It will not go well for you. Also take some sea sick pills. That will help, unless you do this type of fishing. It was an experience we will not forget.

Keep a close eye on the weather and find a Capt who is easy to contact. Also find an experienced captain who has good ratings. That's your best chance at a successful day.

Bring rain gear. Wear it. Enjoy the hungry speckled trout and when the tide is moving in, the tailing redfish.

Take the freshly caught fish to Blackbeard's and have them cook it for you for dinner following the trip.

Wait until shrimp boats are back into operation for best fishing results! If you can, wait until August or last week of July!
