For ice fishing, bring hand and toe warmers. I learned that the boots I have aren't great for warmth on the ice and the toe warmer chemical packets I out in under my toes saved the day.

We caught the first big chill of the season today, but anyone who got it in the days before in this first week of October probably could not have asked for better weather.
Mille Lacs is vast and beautiful! Note that if you get a shallow boat launch and cannot shove off, there are other launches not too far!

Be flexible. Predator fish weren't boting so guide found the crappie and three of us caught our limit in about 2.5 hours.

Totally depends on the weather. We happened to hit it just after a cold front, and the Northernโs and walleye were not biting much. Caught lots of bass and still had fun.
