While yesterday was a little cloudy and chilly for this time of year, fishing in the Vancouver area continues to be terrific this Spring, with good numbers of chinook salmon in local waters. Soon, the coho salmon will start to fill, and the chinook numbers will also grow as the main summer migrations kick in. Once again, both coho and chinook are forecast to have very strong returns this year, and we are also expecting a huge return of pink salmon as this is a dominant run year for the Fraser River - which literally means millions upon millions of pink salmon homing in on Vancouver area waters this summer. All in all, salmon season in Vancouver is in full swing, and it should be one for the books! Book your spot now!

Terrific Winter Fishing and 2025 Outlook! So far, the winter salmon fishing and weather in the Vancouver area has been terrific this season with abundant chinook salmon, clear skies and calm waters! Catches of spot prawns and dungeness crabs, a winter bonus, have also been strong. The 2025 fishing outlook from the Department of Fisheries has also just been released and we are again expecting spectacular chinook and coho salmon returns to this area as the year progresses. As if that weren’t enough, 2025 is also a peak return year for Pink Salmon, which means millions of these scrappy fish will be keeping us busy as well. Following an outrageously unbelievable salmon season this summer and fall, we are now looking forward to another great winter chinook salmon season! While winter, or “feeder” chinook are smaller than their migratory cousins, some consider these chrome-bright, silver bullets to be the best eating fish of the year!
