Trip Info

Summary

We have been fishing hard Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The winds kept the catching way off on Wednesday and Thursday with only sharks and bluefish taking hooks. The fluke seemed to have lockjaw. The winds calmed some on Friday and the fluke cooperated somewhat with a couple going home for dinner. Pictured is the catch from our Friday evening trip on the light tackle boat. We started about 5:30 drifting for fluke, and I was able to catch this 22 incher, then we start to plug the sod banks and caught blues and striper to 26 inches. Shown are Capt. Tim and Capt. James with their bass that were released.

On Saturday took the Barbi men fishing, and we were able to capitalize on a good morning bite. We caught 14 fluke, three of which went home for dinner, 17 shark, 2 bluefish, and the first tiny sea robin of the season. Despite the howling wind, and having a wind against current much of the trip the fish were biting. All of the fish were caught off of the ICW behind Brigantine with gulp and spearing being the best baits.
