Trip Summary

The overslot redfish bite has been strong this week around Boca Grande, Florida. We’re seeing larger fish positioned along deeper mangrove edges, oyster bars, and transition zones with good tidal flow. The key has been fishing the moving water — especially the last of the outgoing and early incoming tide. Most of these overslot reds are staging just outside the shallows, sliding up to feed and then dropping back into slightly deeper water. Live bait has been the most consistent producer, though well-presented artificials are getting quality eats when conditions allow. These are mature, powerful fish that require steady pressure and patience. We’ve been taking our time on the fights, keeping angles right, and getting them boatside healthy and strong. If you’re looking to target trophy-class redfish on an inshore charter out of Boca Grande, this is a solid window. Conditions are lining up, bait is present, and the bigger fish are cooperating. Target Species: • Overslot Redfish • Snook • Speckled Trout Prime dates are starting to book up as the bite continues to stay consistent.

Spring fishing around Boca Grande has been heating up, and this week we checked off a classic Boca Grande inshore slam with redfish, snook, and speckled trout all coming over the gunnel. We started the morning working the shallow grass flats and oyster bars where the trout bite fired up early. Live bait and soft plastics produced steady action, putting several solid trout in the boat before the sun got high. As the tide began to move, we pushed into the mangrove shorelines and potholes where the redfish were cruising. It didn’t take long before a beautiful slot redfish crushed a bait and made a strong run before coming boatside. To top off the slam, we worked a few ambush points along deeper mangrove edges where the snook have been staging. Sure enough, one aggressive snook inhaled the bait and gave us a fun fight before landing the final piece of the inshore slam. Fishing around Boca Grande continues to improve as spring settles in. Water temperatures are rising, bait is showing up on the flats, and the redfish, snook, and trout are feeding hard. If you’re looking for a trip where you can target multiple species and experience some of the best inshore fishing Southwest Florida has to offer, now is a great time to get on the water. Species caught: • Redfish • Snook • Speckled Trout Location: Boca Grande, Florida Trip Type: Inshore Duration: 4–6 Hours Come experience the action and see why Boca Grande is one of Florida’s premier inshore fisheries.
