Trip Summary
Trip Summary
On May 1, we began the trip running east out of Cabo San Lucas. At approximately 5 miles offshore, we hooked and landed a mahi mahi, which struck a pink squid-style trolling lure.
We then adjusted our course, turning 20° back toward shore, working parallel to the coastline. Based on water temperature and color, we focused on the break line, where conditions showed a clear transition.
While working this zone near Chileno, a wahoo made an aggressive surface strike on a rigged dead bait (rigger bait), but after the initial bite, it cut off and we were unable to land the fish.
We continued working the area in a zig-zag pattern, following the water break where we observed additional mahi mahi activity. One fish followed the same pink lure but did not commit.
Later, between Cabeza de Ballena and Cerro del Vigía, around 4 miles offshore, we found deep blue water and observed two marlin jumping and another on the surface, though none engaged the spread.

Conditions:
* Defined temperature and color break
* Clean blue water inshore zones
* Active but selective pelagic behavior
⸻
Summary:
A technical and well-worked day, resulting in one mahi mahi landed, a missed wahoo opportunity, and multiple marlin sightings. Strong conditions overall, with fish present but selective.
