Trip Summary

On June 2, we headed south from Cabo San Lucas and found action early. At approximately 5 miles offshore, a mahi mahi struck a Mint John Green lure (green and black), resulting in our first fish of the day. While fighting the mahi mahi, we spotted a striped marlin on the surface and immediately pitched a bait in its direction. Before the marlin could reach it, however, a reef shark intercepted the bait and became hooked. After a brief fight, the shark was brought alongside the boat and safely released. Continuing south, we reached approximately 9 miles offshore, where we encountered three striped marlin on the surface. Two of the fish showed interest and charged the baits, with one becoming hooked briefly before throwing the hook and escaping. On the run back toward Cabo, another mahi mahi struck a ballyhoo rigged bait (rigger bait) and was successfully landed, giving us our second fish of the day. ⸻ Conditions: * Good offshore water conditions * Active surface marlin sightings * Strong mahi mahi activity throughout the trip ⸻ Summary: A productive offshore day featuring: * 2 mahi mahi landed * 1 reef shark released * Multiple striped marlin sightings and hookups Another exciting Cabo fishing adventure with action from start to finish and plenty of pelagic activity offshore. ???

On June 13, we began trolling approximately 2 miles off Cabeza de Ballena, where we immediately found exceptional billfish activity. Throughout the morning, we observed numerous striped marlin cruising and feeding on the surface. We made several live bait presentations, casting baits directly in front of the fish in an effort to trigger a bite. While working the area, a mahi mahi struck one of our baits and was successfully landed and brought aboard. As the day progressed, the marlin activity only increased. We encountered groups of marlin throughout the fishing grounds, including several occasions where three striped marlin were feeding on the surface at the same time. We presented both live bait and rigged dead bait, but the fish remained extremely selective. By the end of the trip, we had cast to approximately 15 different striped marlin, an incredible amount of billfish activity for a single day, though none of them committed to the baits. ⸻ Conditions: * Outstanding striped marlin activity * Multiple fish feeding on the surface * Good water conditions along the coastline * Highly selective billfish behavior ⸻ Summary: An exciting offshore day featuring: * 1 mahi mahi landed * 15 striped marlin sightings * Multiple live bait and dead bait presentations * Several multi-marlin encounters While the marlin refused to bite, the sheer number of fish encountered made for a memorable day on the water and showcased the incredible billfish activity currently taking place in Cabo waters. ?????

On June 11, we headed toward La Herradura, beginning our troll approximately 3 miles offshore. Within the first five minutes of trolling, a mahi mahi struck a blue and white Flying Fish lure, giving us an early fish and a great start to the day. Continuing along the 5-mile line, a powerful blue marlin attacked a green and yellow lure. What followed was the fight of the day — an incredible battle lasting 2 hours and 10 minutes. Despite the crew’s efforts, the fish eventually came unhooked after an unforgettable fight. Working parallel to the coast at approximately 6 miles offshore, another mahi mahi struck a rigged bait and was successfully landed. The action continued when a striped marlin attacked a purple trolling lure. After a brief hookup, the fish managed to throw the hook and escape. On the run back toward the bay, we added one final mahi mahi, which struck another blue and white Flying Fish lure, completing the day’s catch. ⸻ Conditions: * Excellent offshore conditions * Active dorado bite throughout the trip * Strong billfish presence along the coastline * Productive water between La Herradura and the bay ⸻ Summary: An exciting offshore trip featuring: * 3 mahi mahi landed * 1 blue marlin hooked (2-hour, 10-minute fight) * 1 striped marlin hookup * Multiple billfish opportunities throughout the day A memorable Cabo fishing adventure highlighted by an epic blue marlin battle and a solid box of dorado to bring back to the marina. ?????
