Trip Summary

Started out our morning a little later than usual, recently i was out of town working the Houston boat show for Down South Lures. I was exhausted from the drive and making home around 1:30am, but i had promised my best friends that we would go out and do some scouting in the morning so i dragged my butt out of bed around 5:30am! We didn't exactly get the rush start we wanted but we finally hit the water and first cast was around 8:30am. Winds were blowing 15-23mph out of the northeast and we started working some areas that in previous years had paid off in the past. Sure enough we started to find the redfish and began a slower pace approach with 1/8oz weedless jig heads throwing Down South Lures victorious secret and purple reign! The depth was about knee to thigh deep with a sandy grassy flat. The reds seemed to be more concentrated on the sandy areas and were favoring a slow hop rather than a fast paced jig. We then moved to a more deeper level of water with a soft silty bottom and began to use Custom Corky FatBoys in the double bubble color along with the gringo, waste deep water and a very slow retrieve helped to snag a few keeper trout and a few Oversized Trout as a bonus! We were back at the dock done with limits by 2:05pm!
