FLY FISHING COSTA RICA
Great couple of days Fly Fishing in Costa Rica aboard 31’ GOOD DAY with Dennis & Patty from Seattle.
Day 1
Super slow start to the morning but then we were treated to an amazing sight of a huge school of Golden Trevally. We see the odd Golden Trevally but see so many was something special. Perhaps 100 good sized fish with Jacks mixed in but they were very shy & spooking very easily when we cast at them. We tried! Thankfully some great action in the afternoon produced:
6 Jacks
1 Needlefish
Day 2
We started off at the rocks using big surface hookless poppers on Spinning Rods to try & raise a Roosterfish that we could cast a Fly at, but no luck on that front unfortunately. We spent some time fishing algae flies on a big school of good sized Milkfish but no luck on that today either. One day we will get one on Fly!
The beaches 15 miles south proved the best option for the day and we worked the sardine schools where Jacks & Mackerel were busting bait on the surface & our surface popper flies worked perfectly. From 20+ bites on the Fly we caught:
6 Jacks
1 Mackerel
No Roosterfish on the Fly this time but Dennis had some great fun with the hard fighting Jacks, Fly Fishing in Quepos Costa Rica.
