Trip Summary

Some of the weather this week has not been to favorable for fishing but we happen to get out even those it was rough with some great repeat customers from New York, Tom and his wife they have fished with us for the last 5 years always chartering us for an all day charter no matter the weather, we left the dock 8am sharp with winds blowing 20-30mph out of the northeast, seas 5-8feet with some 10 foot waves mixed in but let me tell you the fishing was incredible, we started out with a little different spread then we normally fish due to the wind, we had 1 planner down with a seawitch and a bonito strip and we fished 4 surface baits consisting of chin weighted ballyhoo and seawitches, we had to fish the surface baits further back then normal due to the wind, we started off with a instant bite of a nice kingfish. Continuing offshore in search for some mahi 2 of our surface lines went off with nice sized mahi 10-15lb fish really nice ones Tom and his wife fought the fish great in the sporty conditions and landed both fish, we would continue to head offshore in search of more mahi and we need up keeping Tom and his wife very busy catching tons of barracudas and really nice mahi as well as a skipjack tuna that had been bitten in half by something, towards the end of our trip we found a giant floating tree where we caught the biggest mahi of the day the weighted 24lbs a great fish and Toms biggest it was a great day of mahi fishing even the the seas where rough, Tom and his wife will be back next year to fish with the YB Normal once again. Another trip that comes to mind was Monday where we had some more great customers that had fished with us a few years ago, we left 8am sharp and set up our normal spread of 2 planners down and 3 surface baits the weather was much better the the other day, we caught a kingfish right off the bat on one of our planners, then decided to head offshore in search of mahi, we did manage to find the mahi in 700 feet of water, we got 3 bites at one time and landed all 3 fish, as well as catching a baby wahoo on one of our planner baits, as well as a few barracudas, the fishing this week out of Fort Lauderdale has been excellent all that is missing is YOU!! lots of variety of fish biting and what looks like calm weather greeting us the next week or so. If Your in Fort Lauderdale and looking for a deep sea fishing charter check out the YB Normal right on Fort Lauderdale beach, we have cold ac and a lot of different fishing trips to choose from! capt. Spring Fishing Is Coming
Spring Fishing Is Coming
March 1, 2026
Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here. Its been a super busy week for us here, lots of deep sea fishing charters and we are very grateful for all of our customers. For the report this week it sure seems like things have slowed down a bit from what it was a few weeks ago and thats normal. Fishing goes through a lot of ups and downs throughout the year. Its not always going to be great fishing just like its not always going to be slow fishing either. The weather patterns play a big role in fishing and it seems like right now we are in a transition period where things are moving towards spring from winter. Fishing wise sailfish is still the hot topic right now in Fort Lauderdale, the days that we have been having steady winds from the east have been the better conditions for fishing lately. Kite fishing with live bait still remains in my opinion the best way to produce fish but some days have been better then others. Trolling has been decent lately but it has been producing a variety of different species but not to many of one type. Kingfish, blackfin tuna, barracuda, mahi mahi are a few of the types of fish that have been biting via trolling. There is a full moon coming up this week so there could be a few opportunities for wahoo so be on the look out for that is next weeks report. Last but not least anchor fishing on the reef for species like yellowtail snapper has been very good when the conditions allow for it. The best winds for that type of fishery is going to be light winds from the east or south and northern current to take your chum right down the reef, we had a great trip this week doing that type of fishing catching 40 yellowtail snappers. Yellowtail snapper is one of the best eating snapper that we have available here in Fort Lauderdale and is a favorite of the florida keys as well. This week please take a minute to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the month of March i would imagine we are going to see the fishing overall as a whole pick up. Larger tuna should be in the mix as well as kingfish showing up too. Looking like for the week ahead there is going to be some steady wind from the southeast at around 15-20mph that should be just what we need to jumpstart the fishing i have big hopes for this week. Time will tell. As for the month of March spots are filling up quickly but there are still a good amount of spots available, so if your heading down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water. More Later.... Capt. Vinnie

Red HOT Sailfishing In Fort Lauderdale
Red HOT Sailfishing In Fort Lauderdale
February 22, 2026
Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here from the command center. Its been a great week of deep sea fishing right here in For Lauderdale. This week we have been seeing some very good sailfish action while kite fishing with live bait, most trips as of late we have been exclusively fishing live bait and kite fishing, this time of year it is very important to have live bait. Trolling during the winter months can be slow, so your best bet is going to be to fish with live bait. For the most part we have been getting multiple sailfish chances and catches on our deep sea fishing charters, but do keep in mind that there are always going to be better days then others. The best days to fish right now are going to be just after we get these cold fronts, that is going to push the sailfish from up north down our way in search of warmer water. Fishing the day of a front is going to be super tough because the barometric pressure is changing as the front approaches and the fish get lock jaw. Although it is fishing and there are no guarantees we always try our best on every trip to make are customers happy. The most important thing is to have live bait right now its going to give you the best chance at catching fish. Other then sailfish we have been catching a few really nice sized tuna as well as scattered mahi mahi. Live bait is not only for sailfish but anything that eats other fish will try to eat a live bait. Trolling in the afternoons has been producing some blackfin tuna too. While trolling your not going to get the larger tuna right now but your going to get the numbers, which could be better for kids who don't have the patience to stick it out for bigger fish. Also mixed in with the tuna there has been some bonito and there is always that chance for a wahoo so its important to fish a bigger lure in your trolling spread incase that opportunity presents itself. Last but not least bottom fishing has kind of been a lost cause the conditions just haven't been right and the sailfish bite has been just too good lately to really try for anything else. Bottom fishing should pick up more as we approach the spring fishing patterns. This week please take a second and check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught on our deep sea fishing charters out of Fort Lauderdale including one picture where we caught 5 sailfish. Also remember to give us a follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the rest of the month of February we don't have any more availability but March is pretty wide open and we would love to take you out deep sea fishing and show you a great time on the water. I would imagine we will start to see some great spring fishing with sailfish, blackfin tuna and a few wahoo as well as some big game sharks starting to show up, all thats missing is you hope to see you soon! more later... Sailfish Action In Fort Lauderdale
Sailfish Action In Fort Lauderdale
February 10, 2026
Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here from the command center. This weeks report is a great one and its one that i feel that a lot of people have been waiting for. For this week i would say its safe to finally say that the sailfish are here. The week prior we had a very cold cold front, that i feel has pushed a lot of the fish that were up north down to the south in search of warmer water. Live bait fishing with a kite has been the name of the game, and live goggle eye has been the bait of choice. Now when you are fishing with live bait from a kite it doesn't necessarily mean that the only thing that will bite is a sailfish, most any predatory fish will **hidden content** bait. Mahi, kingfish, and blackfin tuna are all possible catches while kite fishing. To go kite fishing the first ingredient your going to need is wind, without that no kite is going to fly. Next is live bait. The kite is going to keep your bait on the surface of the water and a lot of the strikes you get are visual, sometimes you see the fish before they bite. This time of year when the wind direction comes from the north or north east that is the time to kite fish, a lot of the sailfish are going to be doing what we call tailing where they are surfing down the swell in search of food and the way the presentation works with the kite and live bait it is as natural as you can get. Most of the sailfish action has been in 150 feet of water, for the last few days we have had a nice edge where two currents meet forming a tidal edge, you are going to want to set up right on the inside of the northern current thats where your sailfish are going to be coming by. Other then sailfish this week the afternoon trolling for species like blackfin tuna has started to pick up, depths from 180-350 is going to be where to look, we have been seeing some larger size tuna this week around 10-15lbs which is great for this time of year. Small baits like 2inch spoons are going to get the best action while trolling because a lot of the tuna are feeding on small minnows and that is going to be the best way to match the hatch. While trolling for the tuna in the afternoon there is always a chance to get that wahoo because that is what's eating the tuna so its always important to have a bigger bait in your trolling spread incase you get that opportunity. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the next few weeks we have some limited availability for the rest of the month of Feb, but a few dates do remain available. March has plenty of availability as well so if your heading down to south Florida and looking to do some deep sea fishing we would love to have you out with us for a great day on the water... more later Capt. Vinnie
