We have a group of 8 fine gentlemen from the New York/New Jersey area joining us this week to experience the best Offshore & Inshore Fishing that Costa Rica has to offer. We are Fishing the guys aboard three 31 foot boats GOOD DAY, Bucketlist & Swordfish. Day 1 yesterday got off to a flyer with plenty of Sailfish, Dorados and a couple of lost Marlin between the 3 boats. We set the day up aboard GOOD DAY as a Fly Fishing/Conventional combo trip. 2 short teasers in the water for the Fly Angler & 2 hooks in the water in long rigger & shotgun positions for the conventional Angler, to try & give both guys shots on fish based on their preferred Fishing style. Aboard GOOD DAY, Tom our conventional Angler released 4 Sailfish which we tagged for Gray FishTag Research and he went 2 for 3 on Dorado, the biggest of the day measuring 59” and weighing about 35lb, huge congrats to Tom on a stunning fish! We also came undone on a Blue Marlin which threw the hook after about a few jumps. Our Fly Angler, also called Tom had 4 Sailfish raise on his teasers. 3 of the fish were as hot you like and teased great, Tom hooked all 3 of them, 2 spat the hook during the first few seconds and the 3rd managed to break the line whilst on a blistering run. So no success on the Fly but plenty of excitement with the Fish teasing right to the boat and lots learned ready for Tom to try the Fly again aboard Swordfish on day 2.
