Trip Summary
Trip Summary
Had a 3/4 day trip with a group of four on Friday looking to dig up some meat for a feast. Picked up george and son, Mikos and Paul from Sanibel boat ramp and headed out. On the way out we saw birds working and fish crashing on some bait so we threw out the trolling lures and scored 5 spanish macs and a snake kingfish. Seas were a bit sloppy, with a steady 15 knot wind from the SW and seas at 3-4 with some larger rolling swells which we cruised out at 23 mph. After just shy of a 45 mile run, out came the bottom gear where we steadily filled the fish box. The final tally was a couple dozen snapper, a handful of jolthead porgies, a 1/2 dozen mackeral and a 4 man limit of red grouper (8 red grouper). Seas laid down in the afternoon to 2-3, and with a following sea, we made a steady 27 mph cruise back in. Had a good time with you guys and look forward to doing the long range trip with you in the future.
