Trip Summary

Yesterday was a pretty epic day aboard GOOD DAY here in Costa Rica! Usually we would be looking for Roosterfish and our other Inshore species during a 1/2 day inshore family trip but some red tide inshore forced us to venture Offshore to see what action we could find. We ventured 15-18 miles Offshore & worked a drop off from 200’ down to 1000’ in a water temp of 81F/27C. The Saunders family from North Carolina were our guests for the day, Satch, Laura & their 12, 14 & 16 year old kids were all a blast from start to finish and a joy to have on the boat. The weather was stunning with blue skies & flat calm seas and the Fishing did not disappoint either as Satch caught the fish of a lifetime in the form of a 250lb+ Blue Marlin! 16 year old Ashley caught a nice Sailfish & we caught a couple of small Dorados also. Both Billfish were tagged & released for Gray FishTag Research, watching 12 year old Satchy tag his dads 120” (10 foot!!) Marlin was very cool and not to mention the cheering squad as Dad battled the Marlin for 40 minutes….it was simply priceless, what a day here at Marina Pez Vela !
