Trip Summary

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, the fishing in Fort Lauderdale has still been hot and I can't wait to tell you about what we have been catching in this weeks report....For this week starting on the inshore side of things there has been a so so king fish bite, early mornings have been best trolling with planners to help take baits under the surface using seawitches and fresh bonito strips, also inshore on the reef while trolling there has been some bonito and smaller barracuda. On the deeper side of the reef there has been a good amount of blackfin tuna with an average size close to 10lbs, but late afternoons around the dusk hours have been the best time to be out there if your looking for tuna. Trolling small lures on the surface to imitate baby squids has been the best option, its very important to fish the lures further back because tuna are very sensitive to the sounds that the engine which makes the fish go down in the water column. A few wahoo around this week to, seems as if anytime you are fishing around a full or new moon gives you the best chance at landing one of these tasty and beautiful fish. Bottom fishing this week has been productive as well, vermillion snapper has been the primary catch while bottom fishing, small pieces of structure in depths as deep as 300 feet have been the ticket, bottom fishing right now is a great way to put some fish in the cooler for a great dinner if trolling is slow. On the offshore side of things the name of the game has been mahi mahi mahi. Normally we catch mahi earlier in the year around June and July but for some reason this year the fish ar late that is ok its better then not getting them at all. Right now if your looking for mahi I highly recommend an all day trip of at least 8 hours. there has been alot of mahi out there but they been offshore as far as 20 miles. Lots of floating seaweed to fish as well as debris and birds. If you are lucky enough to get into a school of hungry mahi live bait is a must and will definitely improve your chances of landing a good amount. Right now in Fort Lauderdale there are still lots of different fish to target and catch, September is a great month to come down to South Florida and do some deep sea fishing. Be Sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches we have had during our deep sea fishing charters, and as always give us a follow on facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Should have a solid report next week for you guys as well so be on the lookout!! More Later.... Capt. Vinnie

Rough And Windy Week In Fort Lauderdale
Rough And Windy Week In Fort Lauderdale
April 12, 2026
Hey everyone Capt. Vinnie here. This week has been as windy as we can possibly have here, due to a few fronts that have stalled and are sitting over top of us. Like the title says rough and windy it has been indeed. As far as the fishing goes the best way to describe it would be hit and miss lately. Some days its been excellent and other days its been tough. For the most part with the rough seas if you are able to stick it out specially with live bait you will get rewarded with quality fish. The sailfish bite has been very good for the most part but they have been scattered all over depth wise from 100-400 feet. Also with these rough seas there has been some quality sized mahi mahi, anywhere from 10-25lbs as a by catch while sail fishing. With the waves and wind kite fishing has been the best way to fish comfortably and it has been producing some nice fish. But like I stated earlier its been hit and miss, some days have been excellent with multiple sailfish catches and some nice fish for dinner as well, and other days been super tough with only 1 bite so you have to make every bite count. Trolling has been the same way as well early mornings we have been getting a little flurry of fish and then it shuts off, same goes for the afternoons too. I personally think a lot of this has to do with the amount of flying fish or bait that is in the area right now, the gamefish have a lot of choices of food to eat so that would make the most sense to me as to why kite fishing with live bait has been so successful. We did have a few afternoons this week with some blackfin tuna action as well as a nice wahoo we caught (pictured). Everyday is different and things change but it looks like for half of this week its going to stay windy, now fishing in these bigger seas is not for everyone but you do catch really good fish when its rough. Some people can handle it and some can't. My recommendation would be to take some sort of motion sickness medication the day before your trip and then take it again the day of the trip if your prone to sea sickness. As for the fishing right now the best option of something to book is going to be a longer trip and i only say that because the fishing has been spoty and being out there longer gives you an opportunity to fish that window when the fish are going to feed, like i stated earlier this week the ones that stuck it out in the rough were rewarded handsomely. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. For the week ahead looks like the wind is going to cut us some slack as we approach the weekend, the fishing should pick up specially after the blow and the barometric pressure isn't jumping up and down as much. I would expect to see some more tuna as well as sailfish and scattered mahi up and down and kingfish moving in soon. Availability for the next 2 weeks is very good and if your heading down to south Florida and looking to do some deep sea fishing we would love to have you out with us and show you a good time on the water... more later... Sailfish Bite Remains Strong In Fort Lau
Sailfish Bite Remains Strong In Fort Lau
April 1, 2026
Hello, Capt. Vinnie here, another great week of deep sea fishing here in Fort Lauderdale. We had some great weather earlier in the week with calm winds and seas but this week and the week ahead looks like we will be at the mercy of the winds. What does that mean for fishing? It has been good and I have the report and the pictures to prove it. This week just like the title says the sailfish have been bitting absolutely fantastic and it has been as good as i have ever seen it. Live baiting from a kite as well as trolling has yielded great results for billfish right now. Average size has been around 70lbs with smaller and bigger one as well. All the depths has been productive but it seems like when we have current you want to be just inside of the tide line to produce the most sailfish bites. Other then sailfish right now there has been a pretty decent showing of spring mahi. The seaweed has began to show up and there has been some mahi mixed in with it, hopefully it stays at a minimum for us to be able to fish. We are also starting to see blackfin tuna be a very consistent thing trolling has been productive for getting the most action but the live bait is going to get you the quality or larger fish. Smaller tunas have been around 2-8lbs and the larger tunas on live bait have been close to 20lbs. Last for pelagic fish this week there was a few wahoo earlier in the week just before the full moon, we should start to see a few more just as we get to the back side of this full moon. This weeks bottom fishing report has been steady but some days are better then others bottom fishing wise. Vermillon snappers have been the majority catch right now but we are still seeing some large trigger fish mixed in. 200 feet has been the best depth but the fish do move around, the best conditions for bottom fishing have been when we have light winds and small seas with a light north current if you have that recipe your going to crush them! This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters. Also remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the next few weeks availability is some what limited but a few dates remain, looking at our recent reports and recent pictures i would say right now is a great time to come down and get out deep sea fishing so if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water. more later.... Sailfish Are Biting In Fort Lauderdale
Sailfish Are Biting In Fort Lauderdale
March 22, 2026
Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here. What a great week of fishing it has been here in Fort Lauderdale, and just like the title says the sailfish are biting in Fort Lauderdale. As of late I would have to say that this year has been one of the best years for sailfish that i have seen in the last 5 years. Fishing live bait or trolling have both been very productive ways to catch these fish. On days with wind kite fishing with live bait is the preferred method but on days with no wind trolling has been producing excellent results as well. Most of the fish have been all over from 80 feet on out to 300. Right now i would say we are at our peak for sailfish and it should stay steady for a good while. Other then sailfish we have been starting to see some really nice mahi mahi which is always excellent, they to have been scattered all over from shallow to deep and nice sized as well. Majority of the mahi have been around 10lbs with a few bigger ones close to 20lbs being caught. Trolling still remains very productive for blackfin tunas in the early morning and late afternoons. Afternoons seem to be much better but we still have been catching them in the mornings too. Mixed in with the tuna there has been a select few wahoo if your lucky and it just so happens the last few days the conditions have been just right to target them so be on the look out next week for some wahoo pictures. Last but not least bottom fishing for vermillion snapper has been very good on days that the current allows for it, some days there has been to much current to bottom fish but the days the current is strong the pelagic fish are biting so its kind of a double edge sword. Some of the biggest snappers have been around 4lbs, also mixed in with the snappers have been some small amberjacks. This week please be sure to take a minute and check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters, and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. For the next few weeks we have some available dates so if your looking to do some deep sea fishing now is a great time, look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water and by the way the fish are biting! more later...
