Tuna (Yellowfin)
Trip Summary
Trip Summary
We had a quick halfday trip today so we didnt get far. But we didnt have to as the tuna were biting right up the Pacific side just a few miles! We were trolling feathers, hoochies, and a long ballyhoo trying to catch anything for tablefare. Things started slow as we worked past the lighthouse and trolled up the coast in 25 fathoms. I knew something was going to happen as we had great conditions with the sea temp around 82, off color but clear water, and bait on the meter thick! As we approached Pedregalito I saw a couple of boats stopped and headed over to check it out. I didnt get halfway to them when we had a triple HOOKUP!! The anglers were slow to the rods and we had some 1st bite confusion, so we ended up only landing one little 12 pounder. We proceeded to work the area between Pedregalito and Los Arcos raising quite a few tuna and landing a bunch. There were a lot of short biters so we had lots of strikes but only a few stuck. When it was all said and done we loaded up and headed home to Cabo! Cant beat it for a few hours! Back out Saturday on a fullday with a surprise angler! Its going to be epic!!
