Trip Summary

We went out on Thursday this past week (2/23/23) for a scouting trip for flounder. We managed a handful of flounder to see if they started thier way back into the estuary yet. Therefore between the fog and mosquitoes we got a late start to our morning. Once we arrived in the marsh the mosquitoes were thick but i always have bug spray on hand. The tide was trickling out and the bite tough. After 30 mins or so the bite got better we landed around 14 flounder but only kept a few for dinner. After the wind layed down we went into the lake to try to find soem redfish. We saw schools of mullet being destroyed by massive redfish. Had a rod with a egret vudu shrimp tied on and a 4horseman popping cork and it was on. Two pops pause two pops pause then boom drag started screaming. 10 mins later landed that redfish between 45-50lbs. So overall decent day just a slow bite. Spring fishing is upon us!
