Mark & Tyler - Day 4
During the fourth & final day of Fly Fishing Quepos with Mark & Tyler we headed offshore to see what action we could find. The guys were determined to catch a Marlin on Fly & we set out with this in mind. Early in the morning at 27 Miles we found a large group of Spinner Dolphins & knew that the Tuna would be close by. We switched flies and positioned one Angler on the bow & another at the stern. It was not long before Mark's Fly was grabbed by a hungry Tuna during a fast retrieve back to the boat. A solid 30lb Fish put up a great battle on the Fly tackle and it was great to add some species variety to our catches on Fly from the previous days. Tyler was then tight on another Fish which took him a good 20 minutes to get alongside the boat, a fish of around 25lb. We pushed on in search of a Marlin and after a couple of fishless hours ran into another school of Tuna at 31 miles. Each of the guys caught another Yellow Fin apiece and there were bent Fly Rods and screaming reels to keep us entertained. We finished the day fishing a floating platform which was loaded with bait and there had been Marlin hookups here earlier in the day. We caught several Fly caught Bonitos but our Marlin raise eluded us today as we called lines out & headed back to the Marina for an ice cold beer and reflect on our success of the previous days.
