Trip Summary
It was great to have Stewart & Rachel from Jacksonville aboard GOOD DAY today for their first experience of Fishing in Costa Rica. It was a beautiful day & we headed offshore in flat calm seas & Blue skies. We made a stop to catch some live bait & loaded up on Bonitos incase we should we encounter Tuna later in the day. The day got off to a great start when we caught a Dorado & 3 Mackerel whilst fishing for live bait. We started trolling at 27 miles & within 5 minutes of setting the lines we raised a double Sailfish. One hook up for Stewart & one missed bite. Stewart was delighted to release his first ever Sailfish & the day had barely started!
Rachel was up next and did a great job battling her first ever Sailfish to catch the biggest fish of the day, a big Pacific Sailfish of around 110lb, which we tagged & released.
One further Sailfish was released for Stewart, another lost fish & a few missed bites.
We then had some excellent action with Yellow Fin Tuna with some nice Fish busting the surface all around the boat. We hooked a nice Tuna on the popper which broke the treble hook & resulted in a lost fish. We had lots of fish chasing the poppers and looking at our live baits but they were a finicky group & we could not catch one today.
Another fantastic day Fishing in Quepos Costa Rica & we are back out there again tomorrow!
