Trip Summary

The surface temperature in both the lower river and the lake is 50.6 degrees. Last year, this time, it was 48 degrees. Fast warm-up is causing fish schools to scatter, leaving behind the odd nomadic fish. Morning was calm with a very light northeast wind. There was only 1 fish taken on plugs on the niagara bar. Sonar marks the odd fish here and there. By 10 am, sunny was bright and hot with no cloud cover. Water clarity was perfect. Fished plugs in the river and caught smallmouth while searching for a walleye bite.
