Trip Summary

Today was an absolute blast out on the water with Vicki and the crew. February is a great time of year for fishing here, with the Spotted Seatrout and Red Drum (Red Fish) really active in the mild conditions. We met up at 7 AM and couldn't wait to get the lines in the water and see what the day had in store. As soon as we got set up and started working the flats, the fish started hitting. Vicki was the first one to hook up, her rod bending over as she battled a nice Spotted Seatrout. After a solid fight, she brought it in, and we got a good look at the beautiful spotted pattern before carefully releasing it. Not long after, one of the other anglers hooked into a nice Red Drum that had us all cheering as it made a few good runs. The action kept up steadily throughout the morning, with everyone getting in on the fun. The weather was just perfect - sunny skies, light winds, and comfortable temperatures made for an incredibly pleasant day on the water. Between the steady bites and the beautiful scenery, it was one of those trips that just felt right. Even when we didn't have fish on, we were able to kick back, enjoy the view, and have some great conversations. That's what makes these trips so special - it's not just about the number of fish, but the whole experience of being out on the water together.

South Padre Morning Bay Trip: Speckled T
South Padre Morning Bay Trip: Speckled T
November 2, 2025
Megan and family headed out for our fall morning trip with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of storms rolling in later. The early morning conditions looked promising as we launched from South Padre Island for our half-day bay fishing adventure with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures. We focused on drift fishing and bottom fishing techniques, with some trolling mixed in to cover more water. They managed to land a solid speckled trout and a 25” drum during our session. South Padre Island's bay system works well for these techniques because of the varied structure and current patterns that hold fish consistently. We wrapped up the morning run with good action and plenty of time before any weather moved in. If you're looking to get on the water around South Padre Island, our 1/2 Day Morning Bay Fishing Trip with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures offers the perfect opportunity to target speckled trout and other bay species. We use proven techniques like drift fishing, bottom fishing, and trolling to maximize your chances of success in these productive waters. The morning trips work especially well during fall months when the fishing picks up and weather patterns are more predictable. Whether you're new to bay fishing or an experienced angler, we'll put you on fish using the methods that work best for South Padre Island's unique bay system. Book your trip with us and experience why our morning bay fishing adventures consistently produce results in these waters.
