Trip Summary

We had a fantastic day out on the water with Sergio Betancourt and the crew, exploring the best fishing spots around Rio Hondo, TX. It was a beautiful day, with partly cloudy skies and ideal conditions for a productive fishing adventure. As we headed out, I knew we were in for a treat – March is a prime time for targeting Spotted Seatrout and Redfish in these waters. The fish are actively feeding, and the mild weather makes for comfortable time on the boat. We started the day with some deep sea fishing, working a variety of lures and live bait to entice the big ones. It didn't take long before we started hooking into some nice Spotted Seatrout, their shimmering sides flashing as they put up a great fight. The action just kept getting better as we shifted to some light tackle jigging and drift fishing. The Redfish were really fired up, eagerly smashing our offerings and giving us some incredible runs. Sergio and the group were all smiles, reeling in fish after fish and filling our cooler with some quality keepers. Between the steady bites and the beautiful scenery, it was the perfect day to be out on the water. South Padre Morning Bay Trip: Speckled T
November 2, 2025
Megan and family headed out for our fall morning trip with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of storms rolling in later. The early morning conditions looked promising as we launched from South Padre Island for our half-day bay fishing adventure with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures. We focused on drift fishing and bottom fishing techniques, with some trolling mixed in to cover more water. They managed to land a solid speckled trout and a 25” drum during our session. South Padre Island's bay system works well for these techniques because of the varied structure and current patterns that hold fish consistently. We wrapped up the morning run with good action and plenty of time before any weather moved in. If you're looking to get on the water around South Padre Island, our 1/2 Day Morning Bay Fishing Trip with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures offers the perfect opportunity to target speckled trout and other bay species.
