Trip Summary

Fishing down in South Padre Island, Texas is always an incredible experience, and this afternoon's (PM) Fishing Trip 5 Hours with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures was no exception. April is a prime time for targeting some of the area's most exciting inshore and nearshore species, as the warmer waters start to bring the fish closer to the surface. With partly cloudy skies and great water conditions, it was shaping up to be a awesome day on the water with the group. We started off with a mix of light tackle, and drift fishing techniques, working a variety of spots to find the hot bite. It didn't take long before one of the rods bent over hard—Julie had hooked into a feisty Red Drum that really put up a fight. After an exhilarating battle, we got the fish in the boat and snapped a quick photo before reviving and releasing it. The action stayed steady from there, with the group hooking into more Red Drum throughout the day. It was a blast watching everyone experiencing the raw power of these incredible inshore game fish. In between the bites, we had the chance to take in the beautiful South Padre Island scenery. The calm waters and gentle breeze made for a relaxing backdrop as we shared stories and enjoyed each other's company. There's nothing quite like making memories on the water, and this trip had that special magic that keeps anglers coming back. Whether it was the thrill of the hookups, the stunning natural surroundings, or just the camaraderie of the group, this was the kind of day that South Padre Island is famous for. If you're looking to experience the best inshore and nearshore fishing South Padre Island has to offer, be sure to book your (PM) Fishing Trip 5 Hours with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures. From targeting hard-fighting Red Drum to enjoying a relaxing day on the water, we'll make sure you have an unforgettable time out on the Texas coast. South Padre Morning Bay Trip: Speckled T
South Padre Morning Bay Trip: Speckled T
November 2, 2025
Megan and family headed out for our fall morning trip with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of storms rolling in later. The early morning conditions looked promising as we launched from South Padre Island for our half-day bay fishing adventure with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures. We focused on drift fishing and bottom fishing techniques, with some trolling mixed in to cover more water. They managed to land a solid speckled trout and a 25” drum during our session. South Padre Island's bay system works well for these techniques because of the varied structure and current patterns that hold fish consistently. We wrapped up the morning run with good action and plenty of time before any weather moved in. If you're looking to get on the water around South Padre Island, our 1/2 Day Morning Bay Fishing Trip with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures offers the perfect opportunity to target speckled trout and other bay species.
