  Captain Ron was awesome! We went out with a weather warning coming in, and he did a great job keeping us informed and making sure safety came first. We originally hoped to chase tuna, but with the incoming hurricane, we decided to stay closer to shore. Instead, we spent the day rock fishing and trolling, and honestly, we had a ton of fun. Ron was on time, communicative, easy to work with, and just a blast to be around out on the water. He made the whole experience easy and enjoyable from start to finish. This trip was part of our anniversary getaway, and it ended up being one of those days we’ll remember for a long time, including the story of the BIG fish that got away. 😂🎣 Great captain, great experience, and a great day on the water. We’d absolutely go out with Captain Ron again!

  What a great experience! I always base my trips on the captain’s interaction. Captain Ron does not disappoint! He met us at the marina entrance and I went to shake his hand and he said “Nope, bring it in for a hug!”. I immediately knew it was going to be a great trip regardless if we caught fish or not. We hadn’t even got to our 1st drop and a pod of dolphins came swimming up to us as if they were greeting us to tell us good morning! The fishing was fantastic and the Captain’s company was even better! Our arms were sore by the time we left because it was one fish after another! The Red Snappers were on fire! Ron was very informative and helpul when it came to fishing techniques as well as landing them into the boat. We will definitely plan our next SD fishing trip around Captain Ron’s availability! 10/10 recommend!

  Captain Ron delivered exactly the kind of fishing trip we were hoping for. I booked a private charter for myself and my two kids (8 and 10), and from the moment we stepped on the boat, he made us feel welcome and comfortable. What really stood out was how great he was with the kids. He kept them engaged, answered their endless questions, and made sure they were having fun the entire trip. As a dad, that’s worth just as much as catching fish. Ron put us on fish, shared his knowledge of the local waters, and gave us a true Southern California fishing experience. There was never any pressure or unrealistic promises—just an honest captain working hard to give us the best day possible based on conditions. If you’re looking for a family-friendly charter, especially if it’s your kids’ first Pacific Coast fishing adventure, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Captain Ron. We came away with fish, great memories, and one of the highlights of our San Diego vacation. Thanks again, Captain Ron!

  A trip we won’t soon forget!

  We had an incredible experience with Captain Ron at Marisol Fishing Charters. I took my son out for his birthday along with my brother, and it turned into a trip we’ll never forget. From the start, you can tell Ron is just a genuinely good guy. He’s easygoing, helpful, and truly cares about making sure everyone has a great time. What really stood out though was how dialed in he was on the fish. He put us right on them—we ended up catching over 30! It wasn’t luck… you can tell he really knows what he’s doing out there. The boat was clean, the equipment was top-notch, and everything was handled professionally, but still with that personal touch that made it feel special. Ron took the time to help my son, made sure he was having a blast, and honestly made his birthday trip better than I could’ve hoped for. Perfect weather, nonstop action, and an all-around great guy running the trip. If you’re thinking about booking, do it you won’t regret it.

  Great Day on the Water!

  Special 9 hour trip for Jesse Saunders on April 10, 2026 • 2 adults

  Our day with Captain Rob was great. We did a full day trip to the Coronado Islands, hoping for Yellowtail, but just looking to get on the water and get some fish. The water was dirty and green around the Islands, impacting the Yellowtail bite, but Captain Rob didn't let that keep us off the fish. We switched over to bottom fishing around the islands and caught a big variety. The bite got decently hot for a bit when we hit a patch of Lingcod, but we also caught Rockfish, Sheephead, Bocaccio and Sculpin! All in all, we caught a good variety of delicious fish and had a great day on the water! The Marisol was in good condition and Captain Rob was great company. Highly recommend Marisol Charters and Captain Rob for anyone's charter needs around San Diego!
