Hi jay, obviously not the greatest feedback but these should always get some sort of response. First off I apologize on behalf of UFA for your trip Friday with captain Nate. That being said, a few quick things. Mackerel, trout and some other species were all caught on the trip. That said as for the leaders, anyone that is local to this area who has personally fished for Spanish mackerel know they have very sharp teeth. There’s a happy medium with being able to use heavy enough leader 20-30 lb which captain Nate was using to using steel leader but not getting any hookups. They are a tough fish to catch and it’s just part of the game when fishing for them as you are bound to loose some fish.
It sounds like your only displeasure with the trip was about leaders and the way they were rigged although that is just how you have to fish them in order to even get a shot at them. Hope this clears up the air! At the end of the day we always appreciate all of our clients and of course want each and every charter 365 days a year to go great. That said when you fish 300 + days a year some days just are tough. I hope you have a great rest of your day!
